I keep getting this crackling sound when I add another song

Operating system, VDJ version, Are you using a controller, if so which drivers?

Without this information your question is pointless.......
 
without the info beatbreaker suggest is provided...... all can be said is optimize you computer for latency .....
 
have a options search for ultralatency try setting it to no if not already.
