Tópico: Tips for 60s party - Page: 1

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I will gig on a 60s party later this month.
The first two hours are strictly 60s music and the last 2 hours will be music from artists born on the 60s.
I appreciate any advice for "smash-hit" 60s tracks and also good choice of "60s born artists" :)

Thanks!

Thank you for your contribution!!

White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane - 1967 - One pill makes you larger... And one pill makes you small... And the ones that mother gives you... Don't do anything at all…

Led Zeppelin - first album - Jan 1969 - The whole album - How Many More Times, Your Time is Gonna Come, I Can't Quit you Babe, Dazed and Confused, etc.

Kinks - Lola (1970 Okay ;o) )
60s :
Trooggs - wild thing
The Doors - light my fire
Canned Heat - On the road again
The 5th Dimension - Aquarius/Let the sunshine in
Dion - the wanderer
The Who - my generation
Don't forget the Rolling Stones ;o)
...and Tom Jones - It's no unusual ;o))

A couple of unusual ones that work;

The Honeycombs - Have I The Right - One of he first bands to have a girl drummer called Flossy, I met her and chatted to her in Blackpool in 1965 just before their gig.

Roy Orbison - Penny Arcade - Written by Sammy King from Batley, North Yorkshire for an ex servicemans and veterans charity.

........and of course don't forget;
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
The Searchers
The Small Faces
The Beach Boys
The Drifters
James Brown
Wilson Picket
etc......

........then there was all the Motown.......

Tons of stuff from the 60s to get stuck into......

Need any further info? I spent my youth in the 60s here in the UK.

Thanks everyone! I think all your good advice is enough for me.
I find out my library has quite a few 60's songs but very seldom played. The "oldies" parties I use to play at focus more on 70/80 music, which I know well by now :)
Thanks!

I noticed that you are from Sweden, there has to be some top hits from Swedish artist, that most have overlooked. What do the Swedish Charts say about the number one hits from the 60's?

Just as I thought, not one of those top Swedish hits was even mentioned. We have to take into consideration that what was a hit where you are, may not be the same in another country. I am sure that even though the Beatles were a worldwide sensation, some of those other groups were not. Good looking out, Groovindj.

Good call guys, hadn't notice the Swedish flag.

I have 600 1960s songs on my laptop, 80% dance tracks from the UK and USA. How can i get those titles to you? i too was 13 to 23 in the 60s .

AMAHM more observant than I.
Definetly did not see what country post was from.

I know I can do a 60's party with my eyes closed here in the US. If you drop me in Sweden, I would have a hard time, and need to look at the list that Groovindj posted.

Thanks everyone, but even if I live in Sweden, most of your advice will work!!

Thanks Ray,

That finalized my 60s playlist for tonight :)
