Last night I was DJing at a party, everything was running smoothly for 90mins until I noticed (thru my headphones) that the right deck on my Hercules RMX2 controller had lost around 90% of the audio, when I was cueing up the right deck to play the next song i could just about barely hear the track in my headphones but it sounded awful. When I played the song with the fader up it sounded awful so I quickly put the fader back down. My intitial reaction was that part of the controller had failed. I turned off/on the controller & rebooted VDJ on my mac and everything was working perfectly again but within 10mins I had absolutely no headphone sound from the controller again. I then went into CONFIG on VDJ > sound setup and noticed that the sound card icon had changed from my usual settings to 'simple' and there was no drop down tab next to it (thats normally there) with HerculesRMX2. When I clicked on 'simple' to change it I couldnt and there was no option to select anything else which was strange. My next reaction was that my macbook was causing the problem so i rebooted VDJ once again aswell as turning the controller off/on again. I then went back into CONFIG on VDJ > sound set up and I could now change the settings back to my usual ones and yet again everything was now working fine. I then selected a track to play, loaded it onto the deck but when I clicked play it wouldnt work at all and the track was dim, I tried other tracks and everytime I loaded thrm they were all dim and wouldnt play. At this point I swapped macbooks and used my older one and didnt have a single problem for the rest of the evening. Luckily all of these technical problems happened around the time of the buffet so nobody really noticed what was going on and it didnt effect the party.
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced these kind of problems?
I previously used a macbook pro late 2008 and had all my music stored in my itunes library on the hard drive and have had no issues in the years Ive used VDJ with both the Hercules RMX & RMX2 controllers. Now I purchased a new macbook mid 2015 and have decided to keep my music on files on an external hard drive and use that system instead of itunes but last night was the 1st time I set up this way and I have had problems, Im not the most technically advanced user but at the same time I'm not out my depth using this technology. All my software and drivers are up to date.
Macbook pro mid 2015 OS X El Capitan 2.8ghz 16gb memory
VDJ Pro 7.4.7
Hercules RMX2
I use a pair of RCF 312s and a DJM600 mixer for gigs.
Any help or advice on troubleshooting is appreciated,
John

Did you happen to check and see if you were logged into VDJ?
The 10min cut off time makes me think it is not getting your pro license login. Therefor, it is giving you the ten minute trial and then going back to home user mode.

Well if it was PC i'd say corrupt driver or load up.
In this case the first thing I would do is load the latest software pack.
Where it didn't show up in settings, it wasn't detected.
In that case generic sound settings were loaded instead.
Another usb cord is also in order even if its new.

yeah I'm logged in, I forgot to mention that in my OP. After various internet browsing I have came to the assumption that its El Capitan thats the problem, can't seem to see any drivers from Hercules that cater for this latest mac OS.
looks like after a very happy marriage its time to sell my RMX2 and get something more reliable, Ive read so many headaches relating to El Capitan / Hercules / VDJ - although the problem doesn't lie with VDJ.........thanks for your replies guys :-)

The drivers from the RMX2 page show that they are fully compatible with OSX 10.11: https://support.hercules.com/en/product/djconsolermx2-en/
Make sure your driver version is v5.89s

I Strongly believe that the software is not recognizing your license agreement with your controller due to the fact that is stops working every 10 mins. Me on the other hand had a similar problem when i first purchased my first controller which was a (numark mixtrack 3) so i recommend thast you check into your licence agreement.
