Does anyone know the names of "panelgroups" related to the base skin?
I wanted to set up a script to change the panels with a click ...

Show in a picture what you want to change
here's an example or 2
skin_panel '@pads16_deck1'

skin_panelgroup 'fx_deck1' +1

Is there any particular reason why you can't just look through the XML yourself?
 
Script learn in mappers would be easier, the placeholders in the xml don't make it obvious as to what the real name is.

If I knew which file to watch I had already done it.

Instead of being so strict, tell me which file to check. That would help you.
