Tema: remove from search DB
doug9474ControlleristMember since 2019

I'm using VDJ 8.5 on windows 10.

I have to drives C: and D: I have music that I may use in VDJ on D:, and a lot of other music on C:

When I search, I only want the music from D: to show. So, I right click on C:, then click Batch > Remove from Search DB. However, when I do that, the songs still show up in the search. How do I make everything on C: not show up in search for songs?

settings -> browser ---> ignoreDrives 1
this will prevent drive 1 (or C:\) from being scan

of course batch remove from search DB is needed for all registered tracks

It should work with batch remove from search db.

ignoreDrives is not useful for this (it only prevents opening the db on that drive), and certainly not recommended for drive c, since on most systems this would be the default database

Without it, i always get "Video" & "Music" windows default folders added by default
maybe they have to be hidden from local music ?

note the "remove from search DB" is not recursive, only files in the folder are removed, those from subfolders are not
may also make think some files are not removed

It is recursive

just noticed that the files from C: that show up in search no longer exist on disk. So... Apparently it only removes items from the search DB that exist. Afterwards I had to "Remove missing files from search DB"

If I didn't want the files that do exist in to show up in search, i definitely didn't want the ones that don't exist to show up in the search... However, looks like it's just a two step process to remove everything on a certain drive.

Thanks.

it's just

2^[alphabet index - 1] (if a == 1st)
seems you can't ignore C:\

but d:\ && e:\
would be
2^3 (so d is 4th -1 is 3rd ) + 2^4 (e is 5th -1 is 4th)
so
8 + 16
24

even after restarting, vdj will see tracks that are called by browser or sidelist but they'll be seen as new

You can ignore C: drive.
What you can't ignore, is the drive that VirtualDJ home holder is located at.
So, if you change your home folder to D: you can ignore C:

Sidenote: Out of all drives, the drive that has VirtualDJ home folder won't use "X:\VirtualDJ\database.xml" as it's database. Instead it will use "Home Folder\database.xml"
