Where is your headphones connected? and if directly to computer perhaps some sound DSP for headphones on Windows like "room" or "extra bass" etc?
Or just the headphones themselves being "bass boosted" consumer ones?
Should be same-ish sound in headphones on regular controllers etc.

If you're using a 72, you might need to adjust the headphone tone in mixer settings. The team are currently looking into a bug whereby closing VDJ resets the mixer tone setting to bass.
