How does this work please?

-New default keyboard mapper. Start typing to start searching, (typing where?)
hold ALT pressed to show keyboard overlay ( cant see it) and
double-press ALT to make it sticky and use shortcuts without holding ALT

May only appear if you were not using a custom map

start typing from anywhere, as long as a VDJ windows have focus

can't see ? maybe you are using a custom map or option keyboardShowKeymapOverlay is set to no
see keyboardKeymapOverlayOnSticky as well

double press ... that's a great question, as well as combining keys having a release order
(reported as a bug but seem not) specially because of "start typing" not compatible with natural keys as shortcuts

use onScreenKeyboard instead for correct behavior on touch screens

I customized the map long ago, because I don't use a physical controller for a radio show. So, I guess that this update is useless to me. Thanks for your response.

Why not try it first before giving up on it?

Settings/keyboard/factory default

ALT or OPTION key on Macs

Could you possibly add in some of your customizing? I have done this with mine.

Klaus has posted a video demonstrating this new feature;

Klaus thank you for your wonderful video that explains a lot. I am on PC also and have a few simple questions:

If I have customized the keyboard, I cannot use that set up and bring the keyboard mapping up at the same time?

You mentioned that from factory default you can customize so I am wondering if I can create a customized setup and still bring that map up with ALT

If I go to factory default, I won't lose the custom mapping, right? But I won't be able to use all the keys I assigned?

Thanks for your information.

can see overlay with your map, if you add keyboard_shortcuts script to your map
can try factory default, can customise, your original custom is safe.

locodog, I tried this and when I see the keyboard overlay, it does not show what you assigned the key Value/Command.

ie: If I assigned Q = Play, when I view the Keyboard overlay, Q does not say PLAY (it's just Q)

is there a location where this need to be added ?

what key are you calling the overlay with?

If it's by pressing ALT then it does not appear because the overlay shows the ALT map

only a button mapped to "keyboard_shortcuts" or "keyboard_shortcuts on" can show it

I assigned both to try "ALT" & "CTRL" to my custom keyboard mappings.

When I press either ALT or CTRL, the keyboard layout shows but the command value/name (like PLAY, STOP et..) does not show (only the regular letters shows).

In the default keymap, it shows the command value name of the assigned keys.

Does your custom map have any keys assigned to CTRL+letter or ALT+letter ?

Adion, No I don't use any Combo like ALT+SOMETHING or CTRL+SOMETHING.

As Nicotux said, when you map it to CTRL or ALT, it will show the relevant shortcuts that are active in combination with CTRL or ALT.
You can assign it to another key if you want it to show for regular keys though.

I just tried adding one one of the keys with ALT+Q and it shows.

so I guess I need to double all the mapped keys and add ALT+the keys.

Thanks Adion.
