So I usually don't use samples but I'm doing a basketball tournament. And there are some fx and samples they want . I cannot seem to find to volume to control them. When I hit the pad it just way to loud. Any help would be great.

Best would be first to edit their Gain after you add them to a Sampler Bank slot, using Sampler Editor (top-right knob) https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/editors/sampleeditor.html , and make sure all of your Samples have the same output volume.
You can then use the Master Sampler Volume knob in Sampler view of Sideview to set the overall volume lower if needed. https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/interface/browser/sideview/sampler.html#ShowEffects
or the individual sampler slots Volumes (if the List view is selected from the Sampler Options)
If you wish to control the Sampler Master Volume from your controller , you can map a knob as .. sampler_volume_master (or sampler_volume_nogroup x for the individual sampler volume of slot x)
