YES, if your machine is connected to the internet then vdj will update with every new release.
If your machine doesn't go online, you can download the current version and then move the installer to your performance machine.
Everybody gets the same version of VDJ, home user, home plus user, full pro, all the same the difference is your login unlocks the extra features.

And is it necessary to have a connection to the interet to have all available functions in the program. After purchasing the program. If this is the case, it is a very poor solution.

It is not not necessary to have a connection to the internet.
HOWEVER "all available functions" include functions that rely on internet, such as streaming files directly from on-line pools.
Those functions will NOT be available if there's no internet connection.
