Forum: VirtualDJ Technical Support

Tema: Buying as disabled user
Hi friends,

I desperately want to own VDJ legitimately but I have a problem. I'm disabled and unable to work. The fact that I have little money isn't even the real problem though. If it was purely financial, I'd settle for a cheap or free alternative as VDJ is pretty much the most expensive option out there.

The real problem is that I can only use my weaker left arm and foot for mixing. My dad helped build a basic custom MIDI controller - more accurately, a system of basic controllers - to work around this, but VDJ's scripting language and powerful mapping tools are the only tools I've found that allow me to use my unusual equipment to mix the way I used to -- a very fast and technical style.

Is there any chance I can get a discount on a perpetual license? (Tbh, I hate SaaS on principle, hate having to watch my disability money disappear every month, and this isn't a problem that's ever going away, so temporary licences make no practical or fiscal sense for me.)

Thanks and best wishes,
Ellie

Thanks, friendos. I did as suggested and sent a support request directly. I guess I'll see what happens.

In the meantime, I'll keep trying out cheaper alternatives as there's an absurd amount of DJ software out there these days, but I've tried all of the major ones, including OSS software, and I just can't get them to do what I need. In theory, I could modify the actual source code of something like Mixxx to meet my requirements - and there was a time when I was capable of it - but that'd be a Herculean task that's long past my capacity. My brainpower and energy levels aren't what they used to be!

I just want to plug and play (for the most part) and lose myself in the music like I always have. I've never made a penny from DJing and never will (and never wanted to). But it's one of the only things that still brings me joy. :)

You should check out DJ Palsy P on YouTube. He's a VDJ user too.

Here's the link

^ That's very cool!

Also, I must praise VDJ. They've very kindly offered me a discount on a perpetual license. It's just enough to bring it into the range of "affordable luxury purchase" for me. Still a stretch, but doable. I'm obviously delighted! :)
