Tema: dvs with usb midi mixer?
Hi guys, potentially odd question here. Im awaiting some new cartridges for my turntables. As well as playing vinyl, I will also be using them in a dvs setup. I have an audio 6 and traktor control vinyl already.

My analogue mixer will probably need replacing at some point, but I was wondering if it would be possible to utilize a usb midi mixer (Stanton scs.3m, niche I know, but I love it lol).

So the turntables would be connected via the audio 6 and the mixer, via usb. Does anyone know if this is configurable, or done something similar?

Not the end of the world, if not possible, just thought it would be cool. Thanks in advance, for any light shed.

Should be Plug-N-Play:

https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/stanton/scs3m.html
https://www.virtualdj.com/products/hardware.html?view=all (the Audio 6 is listed)

The Audio 6 would show up in the Audio tab and the SCS.3M in the Controllers tab with default configs and the potential to modify as you see fit.

In general though, if you have gear that doesn't compete for controls/resources (one only with audio input/output, the other with MIDI/HID controls), in theory that should work (controllers are really that, but nicely packaged). You may have to do audio config and mapping yourself if it's not listed as supported gear on the Hardware Page.

Thanks. Yeah, Ive used the system 3 (the 3m and 3d controllers) in vdj with no troubles. Was just curious about using the just mixer, with my turntables. Guess I'll just have to play about, when the new cartridges come!

The USB mixer itself has no knowledge of the turntables - nothing from the turntables would be connected/routed through it. VirtualDJ would be in the know/processing/mixing everything (the Timecode control tome comes to it through the A6 inputs I suppose) - the mixer would be just telling it how to modify that processing (volumes, eqs, etc).

It's not a setup I have used but as long as the A6 has inputs for your turntables and a main stereo output (for VirtualDJ to send the mixed result to), you can do the DVS processing/manipulation and play the music out. The output might be RCA and not balanced XLR, so you may need to do more for reliable sound or connectivity depending on what your analog mixer had - maybe put that through a mixing board that has Balanced XLR outs?
