Tópico: Pitch Play like Serato? How to custom map?
Hi, I'm new to Virtual DJ (switching from Serato) and am trying to learn how to make a custom pad mode to do Pitch Play similar to how Serato does it. I am a 4 Deck DJ that utilizes Stems and creative tonal play/pitch play transitions using 2 XP2s to have the convenience of 16 buttons. I found that there is a Keycue mode already but it seems like it doesn't quite work the way for my usage as it shifts the root over 1 every new page and for some reason it glitches when I go from page 1 to 8 where it only goes down to -7 but goes up to +15. There are some other extensions such as Piano Play but it's very confusing how it works on the XP2 and also has limitations of the pads not having all the pitches I need due to it being by Major/Minor pentatonic and Major also, the colors for the pads don't light up for everything and assuming it's meant for pads that have a lot more buttons than 4 rows of 4.

I need some guidance on how I would custom map this since keycue doesnt show me all the params and how it's coded and I cant find any extensions that are like serato pitch play already.

Thanks.

It seems the keycue_pad verbs don't anticipate 16 pad mode with the first page.

Can be remedied by writing a whole new pad using the underlying mechanics keycue_pad actually uses but probably something the devs would want to fix.

keycue_pad_page would need a higher limit too.

Seems fine on 16 pads, not sure what is missing exactly?
You can go from -7 to +8 on page 1, up to 0 to +15 on page 8

page 1 should be -15 to 0 with 16 pads
extreme but that's what OP is missing

@LocoDog yes, exactly. I had a feeling that's why but now I'm wondering if I really want it to act similarly to Serato I'd need to custom make one. The piano play is close to it and it goes higher than +-7 where it goes from -12, 0, 12+ but because of it being designed to mimic a piano, it doesn't quite light up correctly on the XP2 and the ranges are kind of weird for me to locate the root note every time.

okay so I can get away with this if I load the same sample as piano play on any deck and then piano play on the other. Still a little confusing this way but I think that's the only way since parameter seems to change the page on all 4 channels for me if i have the same channel on any of the other decks.

If the devs decide -15 is too extreme for a release [but chopped & screwed is all about extremes], a pad page can be made, a bit of a learning cliff for a new user [don't bother gpt it, it's entirely time wasted, even worse than that - it will confidently BS you]
It'd take me about 1h, but I only do business with licenced users in PM

If you do fancy having a go, [fair play] it would be a variable for the page number and buttons would query variable to decide how hard to use set_key
then there's pad names and colours, like I said 'a bit of a cliff' not impossible but for a new user it would be difficult.

In the mean time enjoy the trial.
