A friend uses rekordbox developed a software for use recommended compatibel songs, i told him virtualdj have it since long time and i sended him a video, he was surprised, anyway i told him virtual dj has all the funtions other softwares don`t have and usually is pioneer developing new things.
Is clear, the best is virtual dj and i`m tired about read everywhere this discussion, only you can be sure about it if you try the software, but usually people says is not ok because they use other program. I used serato first and needed install rekordbox for compatibillity with the universe pioneer in some clubs, but definitelly nothing can compare with virtualdj. I think the only thing virtual dj needs for be the top and change the general perception is: 1. change logo (no need change the main skin because for me is perfect) 2. New name/remove the word "DJ" (using a new name like style traktor, serato, rekordbox), virtual is month by month non stop developing but keep the old name since 25 years, i think is time for a complete marketing-visual change, because "virtual" sounds like something is not real, like emulating something, don`t sounds like the really profi-amazing software is now, good watch a new logo, hear the new name and say...wao!!!
I understand change some things can be not easy for enterprise and legal aspects, but just is my simple personal opinion like total happy virtualdj user.

Serato is actually 2 flavors:
Serato DJ PRO and Serato DJ Lite
Rekordbox is just "Rekordbox" but if you want to DJ with it then you need the Rekordbox DJ license.
Traktor is (now) Traktor PRO 4 but it used to be Traktor DJ and Traktor DJ Studio
So, as you can see having or not the name "DJ" in the software title does not make any difference. In fact, the most used DJ software around the world, still has the name "DJ" in it's title.
I will not enter the name debate. It has been debated to death many times before on these forums and starting a new one doesn't make any sense.
I would argue though for a user to Google "Traktor names"
You'll get a nice list! Now why some users are perfectly fine with the word "Traktor" as a DJ software title but then they complain about the world "Virtual" is beyond me.
You are entitled to your opinion, but please get your facts straight :)
PS: I also don't understand why the acronym "DJ" is considered to be bad these days for a DJ software to use on it's title. It's like suggesting that Apple computers would be much more popular if they removed the acronym OS from their MACOS operating system name.. Or iPhone would be a more popular product without the word "phone" in it's name.

@PhantomDeejay the majority of the people who are posting these takes are looking to fit in rather than stand out.
What really happened is users of other software often are cult like when it comes to the choice, and when they see other software doing the same or better, they try to find faults due to the insecurity.
All this talk about "virtual" and all the silly takes you can gain from the word, is just a natural extension of that insecurity (one person even said VD means Venereal Disease....really? As a professional and an adult on the topic that's where your mind went to?).
As you said, Serato and Traktor gives no actual clue to what they are actually about, so they had to tack on "DJ" to make it make sense, but nobody seems to what to entertain that conversation.

Hi Dj, thanks for take time for comment. Well, really i didn`t knew this topic was commented before, next time i will spend some time cheching similar topics, but good to know i`m not the only thinking like that. As i said, is just my simple opinion, when people takes desicions they check first all the options, like your point of view and mine, that makes interestings the life, going all the people at the same was would be boring sometimes. Ok, first was atomix, and after had a step to vdj, now with all the advances is having i think is time to a evolution, logo/name, is personal, but look ... people with serato and rekordbox usually don`t use skins, but many vdj users wear srt or rkbx skins because don`t want people noticed are using virtual, why if you are using the best software want to looks like softwares are under your level? strange. Maybe somebody can consider our opinions for the future.

we've been seeing this comment or similar for decades. if you don't like the name and it means that much to you then why did you buy it?
What the software is about - it's actual substance and performance - is what matters.
I don't care what other software's are named, never have. i care more about what really matters: that it reliably does the work i require of it every single time i fire it up.
I'd say search the topic but some people just don't want their own opinion invalidated in the face of bald fact.

As i said, is my personal opinion, thanks for your comment, like user i think my opinion has some value, i`m happy with vdj, after try the other, really is the best, for me, is a super good software, just not perfect, if i must give a score, is 9.5/10, the 0,5 for reach the perfection? a new look, just that.

Just curious, how would a new look help you at an event?
What exactly about "the look" you think is inefficient?
Answering those type of questions gives something meaningful to work with because you can see what it actually improves in the workflow of DJing (or not).
Saying one doesn't like a name doesn't provide any value because a name is unrelated to functionality/doing the job.

I have been using VirtualDJ for more than 15 years, and I truly love it because it allowed me to learn and develop in this art that I am so passionate about. However, throughout all these years, I have constantly heard criticism and negative comments about it. I know this is not because VirtualDJ is not the best DJ software, because in many ways it absolutely is, thanks to the countless tools and features it offers. The problem is that many people perceive its sound quality as being below the level of other professional DJ platforms.
I have experienced this myself, and many other DJs feel the same way. What I still do not understand is why this aspect has never been given the same level of attention as the software's other innovations.
Sound quality is fundamental. Some people consider it a minor issue, but believe me when I say that in professional environments, especially when working with Hi-Res audio systems or large-scale concert sound reinforcement, the differences become much more noticeable compared to other software platforms. That reality genuinely frustrates me.
It is painful not being able to defend the software that helped me grow as a DJ with complete confidence. VirtualDJ means a lot to me. It has provided me with professional opportunities, helped me make a living, and allowed me to develop my skills beyond what I ever imagined.
In my view, this is one of the main reasons why many well-known DJs still consider VirtualDJ to be an entry-level or lower-tier platform, even though we all know that is far from the truth. The software's power and versatility are unmatched, and every month the developers introduce new features that leave the community impressed.
However, there is still a perceived gap in audio quality that many of us consider essential. Closing that gap would finally allow us to say with complete conviction:
"I use the best DJ software in the world, in every single aspect."

vdj is BIT PERFECT input>output.
If you want to colour the sound that's on you and is entirely subjective/environmental. That has nothing to do with fidelity.

This is all CAP!! VDJ sounds just fine and Ive played on some pretty big stages!! Never once have I had any of the audio engineers tell me it sounded like crap, in fact Ive been told just the oppisite.
The problem is, yall are so used to listening to OVER PROCESSED music that you think it is the norm at this point.
VDJ sounds great and I stand behind it!!

People just regurgitate what they see others saying (pretty much people who don't know much about audio) or what they hear/experience from other platforms and erroneously think that means accuracy. If they actually knew what the aim is (accurate audio reproduction with manipulation), and what bit perfect meant, they wouldn't be spending time making a long post that amounts to a lack of understanding.

I have used VirtualDJ with Opus Quad last summer to open a major band gig, played out of a L Acoustics Kara II sound system.
At some point the sound engineer of the band "had to come and see" how a DJ would send such a "nice and clean" (his words) signal :P
He literally started removing "safeguards" on his console so that we could enjoy the music more.
If you are familiar with that kind of gigs then you know that sound engineers always tend to eq the hell out of your bass :P (the reasons go beyond the scope of this post)
He almost flatlined the EQ, and the sound was amazing.
The moral of the story is not "how amazing sound" VirtualDJ has.
The moral is that you cannot impress a sound engineer and have him remove "safeguards" on such a sound system if you have "poor/subpar sound quality"
Language may be a barrier here as to what I'm trying to say, but it all comes down to this:
If my sound was distorting or if I was using a maximizer to squash dynamics, or if I was using subpar music files e.t.c. I would not have a sound engineer impressed so much as to actively wanting to undo his usual "tweaks" so that the sound could be even better.
Keep in mind that sound systems like that expose every tiny sound detail. They are the hi end equivalent of the PA world.
Now I'm sharing this story, just because I wanted to share it with the community. Not to brag about something, or to make a point.
The point has been made several times ago.
I have written countless posts in the past that "sound quality" is not a meaningful term. You can't measure "quality" in sound.
You can measure fidelity, and at that VirtualDJ simply excels.
Edit:
I'm calling you out on this part of your post..
Is L Acoustics Kara II good enough for you ?
I dare you and anyone else to bring front an actual sound engineer that works in big concerts with big sound systems that claims that VirtualDJ has "bad" sound or sound that they cannot use.
An actual sound engineer though. Not a random fellow guy / fellow dj / former "sound guy" that used to do church gigs.. :)
