Why EQ options & Gain are disabled in hardware mode? Without hardware my tracks skips, with - EQ is useless.

Get a faster computer ! If you have something like a PIII 800..there is virtually no difference in speed between the two modes

Eq & Gain doest work in hardware mode but support atomix group will write drivers for this. About skiping whats your computer configuration. I run atomix in 475 Mhz computer with out skiping problem but i use classic skin which has less graphics on.

I,ve got the fast machine - athlon 1.4, 256 RAM, but maybe it's Windows blame, beacouse I have reinstaled from ME to 98.
Why reinstaled? During using ME if I tried to run at the same time atomix with CD ripper, music skipped. No it's also skipping... What a pitty.

Try to disable all sound effect of your card and disable Dolby. Also, if you´re using an USB device, try to unplug it.
