my question is if i buy atomix,can i use the preview button on my mixer with atomix or will have to use the preview buttom within the program?

You can do both.
Yes you can use it on your mixer.
You can use 2 sound card like 2 normal deck

you can even split the output from one sound card to act as 2 seperate decks...
