As some of you may know, I have alot of Divx Rips and have had nothing but headaches when trying play them. Acutually, they play fine if they will load without locking up the machine.
I talked to Doug at Screenplay and he belives that when you load a Divx track, because of the super high compression, it expands it too fast and pegs the processor to make VDJ Lock up.
So, Last night, I deleted the Divx Codec and Installed the 3ivx codec to try. Then upon launching VDJ low and behold ... 3.2. :o)
Needless to say, It got installed. After getting it to finally see the DAC2 controller, can I say a FLAWLESS 4 Hour night playing all Divx and MPEG?
Not one glitch, not one sputter, not one lockup. A full successfull night playin all video.
I'm not sure if my Divx problem was solved by changing the codec to 3ivx or because of the new version but whichever it is, I'm extremely happy. We'll see what happens tonight when I play for another 4 hours. I am pretty excited and have my fingers crossed that It will be another successfull 4 Hours.
Only thing i'm curious about is if Im playing Videos and I go to play a normal mp3, It takes FOREVER to load. Does this have something to do with running the effects. I have noticed that the effects suck up the resources like they are going out of style. I wonder if I set it to a bitmap, if they will load alot quicker. I might have to try that tonight.
Anyways, Whats everyone elses thoughts on 3.2? I'm curious to see what you all think.

MP3's take longer to load when/after playing video-files intentionally! :)
Reason for this is to make sure there will be no skips when loading mp3 with video mixing....
You CAN change this, to see if your system does not need the "default load protection".
Change "speed load" setting for Virtual DJ in registry to "1" if you think u have a fast enough pc :)

@dj-in-norway: The link is dead. I'd really like to understand this feature better, can you re post it?
Else, can you point me in the right direction to continue reading some more?
thanks!

Just tried release 3.2 last night at a bar.
Everything went fine except for one weird (and probably isolated) incident:
While cueing a song on deck #1, the song playing in deck #2 suddenly decided to backspin itself to a stop... I looked kinda stupid for a few seconds there, hehe...
This event happened about 15 minutes after I used the "backspin" effect to make a mix. Coincidence?
I couldn't figure out why this happened. Can't tell if I pressed a button that wasn't mapped properly on the XP10, either. I checked my mappings this morning and everything was ok.
First screwup in 7 gigs using VDJ... Not bad! :O)

@internodal: was the deck unused for those 15 minutes, if so maybe something left in the soundbuffer
@dj_spangle: that link is available only for full users :-(

Lopez453,
No, both decks were used alternately during that 15 minute period.
Still, it could have something to do with the sound buffer. Or, it could be a "Code-13" (A problem located 13 inches away from the screen LOL)

DivX6:
I use Videos in MPEG-2, MPEG-1 and DivX without any problem on loading or playing. I'm not sure what is the problem in your config or the DivX version you were using, but I use DivX6 and it's a very good codec, VirtualDJ works OK with it.
Effects:
I found that some effects don't work properly with the new versions of VDJ, I think that some effects have review and probe (and make an upgrade of them) in the new VDJ version to verify it work as it has to be.
VirtualDJ 3.2: I work very well with VirtualDJ 3.2. I was trying VirtualDJ with many other programs open and without turning off the PC and using several hours (from 1 or 2 hours per session) to try to crash it... finally last Sunday I was mixing at the VirtualDJ Radio and get a crash after 4 hours in that session. I think I played VirtualDJ without a crash, without turning off, for about 8 or 9 hours. I have to say that when VirtualDJ is going to crash, is like is going out of RAM (I have 1.5GB so I’m sure there not was really the problem).
To make it crash I make cue points in each song I play, I analyze some songs, rename other songs in the whole 8 or 9 hours VDJ was playing. Before I got the crash, when I try a loop in plate2 to mix the song on plate1 that I was mixing; the screen freeze for 10 secs and then play it normally (after I stop that song in plate2 and the plate1 continue playing without a problem). When I try to load another song in plate2 VDJ crash looping the sound in plate1 and never loading the song I put in plate2.
I'm sure; if after I saw that problem I open a second instance of VirtualDJ and close the first instance, I could avoid the crash.
My advice is that you have a second instance of VirtualDJ open if you see that VDJ aren't working as it should be.

Ok, I know I'm not crazy, so here's another bug I got yesterday (Again, using the "Backspin" effect):
I ended a song with the backspin effect (deck 2) and pressed play to start the next song (deck 1).
Then, I loaded another song in deck 2 and when I pressed play to cue it, the deck played the song which was previously loaded (the one I applied the backspin to...)
I took a chance at pressing the stop button, then the play button again, and at that point the correct song was playing in my headphones.
Weird...

Internodal,
I'm also using an XP10 for more than a year. I have noticed some wierd behaviour now and then.
I took me some time to figure out, but i isolated the cause:
make sure you don't place any metal objects underneath your XP10, that includes mousecables and other stuff, and your XP10 will work flawless as it should.
i hope this will help ya (worked for me)

Hi Cannonball,
Yes indeed, I'm aware of this flaw with the XP10's. I already apply the necessary precautions you described.
I'm pretty sure the bugs I've experienced are simple programming mishaps in release 3.2. Both bugs occured in similar situations, using the "backspin" effect (I've had no such problems with release 3.1, eventhough I've used the XP10's and effects abusively...)
I've reported the two events to the "bug reports" forum. We'll see how it goes from there.
