Tópico: My pictures from Day 1 of NAMM

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

As I previously posted, I will be performing at NAMM for 4 days this week. 4 MARATHON sessions of 8 hour sets! It's only day 1 and I am already exhausted. Anyway, I promised pictures of the setup so here you go:

I already know you guys so I'll answer your questions here:

No I did not make the image (best dj in the world? it's ridiculous, I know)
Yes I am in a water fountain, the stage is built IN the water fountain. It is CRAZY.
Yes I brought a lot of hardware with me

1 - Dell Laptop running DJ software
1 - Dell Laptop running Music Videos, Ambient Visuals, Shadow Dancers
1 - IBM Laptop running TextLive software (allows crowd to request songs via TXT message)
2 - Technics SL-DZ1200 CD Players
2 - Technics SL-1200 M3D Turntables
2 - Denon DNX-100 Mixers
1 - Yamaha MG12/4FX 12 Channel Mixing board (all laptops and DJ setups run through this)
1 - JBL EON 15 laying on floor for monitor sound

And some stuff I don't own:
1 - Edirol V4 video mixer (this thing is so bad ass it's insane)
1 - Numark rack mounted triple video display
1 - Shure wireless mic
1 - HP Laptop running powerpoint looped presentation

So if you're at the show, stop on by. See you guys there.

Oh yeah, also... you don't see it in this picture but on both sides of me are 5 ft. high go-go dancer stages and two *COLUMNS* of some bad ass cobra speaker setups. The go-go dancer tryouts were last night too. That was uhhh, interesting.

Nice stuff anewsome... very impressed. Wish I was able to visit. Just curious what's holding your laptop?

Yada, yada, yada. WHERE ARE THE DANCERS????????

Music man, I'll take some pictures with the dancers tonight.

looking nice man.

2 questions:

What software are you using? Wasn't clear from the pics.

Tell us more about the dancer tryouts!

Now all you need is someone to turn on that fountain. ^^

@cyberia - I am not using VDJ software in this picture

@frodeh - if someone turns on that fountain, that will be an expensive flipping of a switch, because all that gear would be completely ruined. doh!

what software are you using for the videos, and shadow dancers? Are you tying this into any video equipment besides monitors? If so what equipment you using, you should throw a little video together with a mix set to see how the visuals tie into the audio.

The shadow dancers are on mpg files on the laptop, as well as all the music videos and ambient visuals. These are simply being played with Windows Media Player (VDJ makes the videos look all grainy and crappy, so I don't use that). The NVIDIA video driver is nice so the TV out always displays the full screen video and I can browse around on the laptop and select files without the crowd seeing what I am doing.

All of the video sources are fed into an Edirol V4 video switcher (which is flat out amazing, really). That includes 3 hi-def cameras (1 aimed at me, 1 at each go-go dancer stage). There is also another laptop running videos with windows media player. This is how we mix videos (no beatmatching or pitch control obviously).

There really is nothing to show regarding the video. If had software that I could actually mix videos, that might be interesting, but a laptop playing a windows media player playlist is not at all interesting.

Sounds cool, I am assuming with windows media player that you have it full screen so the crowd doesnt see the windows media player screeen?
What software are you using for the music? I see that you said you werent using VDJ? You using Serato by any chance?
I do know there is some software out there that allows you to mix video, I will have to find it and let ya know.

The nvidia video driver on the laptop is pretty cool the way it works with windows media player. It outputs video full screen to the TV out even when wmp is minimzed. I can continue working on my laptop and the crowd can't see what's going on. I used ssl all 4 days for performance. I used vdj with automix enabled for lunch breaks.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking about getting SSL, have seen it and like it.
