I know there's a million posts on automix issues, but I had not experienced them until last night. I had a list of videos, most of which I had played many time before, all set up in the side list on the right for automixing. For some reason, it was skipping some of them and not loading them, just deleting them from the list when they should have loaded. When it did this, it jumped ahead about 20-40 seconds into the one that was currently playing. Not only did it sound terrible, but it ruined the list I had set up to play by skipping the tracks I wanted.
What is or could be causing this? I have all of the force fade and things like that set up as suggested, though I do have the fade length at about 5.7 seconds. I've found that between this and 8.0 seconds I get the best mixes...usually.
So, I'm looking for an answer that hasn't been posted a bunch of times. It skipped loading tracks from time to time in 3.4, but not like this and it didn't make the song playing jump ahead.
(For those anti-automix users, try keeping the music running on your own at a wedding of 300+ guests and still be out among them entertaining table to table. Automix is your best friend during that time!!!! It's pretty bad when the entertainment became my having to 'joke' about why my music was skipping around like that.)

what are your pc specs?

It's a P4 524 w/3.06g and w/ 1g or ram, Radeon graphics with 1g on-board as well. Trust me....I'm way ahead of the average beast in this game and understand the minimum specs and how the settings work. Don't answer if you can't provide anything new or only have a 'work around'. I'm tired of work arounds, and there's no reason to reduce the performance setting in my case. That is not causing anything that is wrong. I've messed with them all and have never experienced this until the other night. It was very random, and I've read other posts about playlist songs being skipped and not loaded in automix mode. These same songs with load just fine as long as VDJ isn't in automix.

I also have this problem and tried about every possible setting, and I too have a dedicated performance machine. The thing that I have found that seems to make it jump ahead and skip files is when you switch file formats. For example, going from mpeg 2 to mpeg 1, or from mpeg 1 to mp3.
Believe me when I say that I have tried every possible setting that can be tried and this problem still happens.
Computer:
AMD Athlon 64 3500
2 gig of PC 3200 RAM
ATI graphics card with 512mb of dedicated RAM
M Audio Delta 44 Sound Card
Windows XP Home

been doing some thinking
its possible that they are bad files
or that they are all different formats which is confusing the program
is it possible to covert them all to one format?
http://www.winmpg.com/ - tool to covert files :)

I don't believe they are bad files because 3.4 was mixing them with zero problems.

I updated the DirectX on my machine tonight and have been running for two hours with no skips and many different types of music files. Fingers crossed that just that small update fixed it.

DirectX is current, files are fine and all the same format (mpeg). They have been played many times before, but are doing this all of the sudden.
If I load them manually, and not let Automix do it, they play just fine and there's no skipping ahead. It's an issue somewhere in the Automix feature. I've even tried mixing from mp3 > mpeg > karaoke zip and didn't have any issue manually. Every now and then, it would do this skipping the song and not loading it and skipping ahead in the playing track when it did so in Automix mode though and it's very random.
I can't really 'make' it do it which makes it even more weird. If I manually load the track to either deck even while in Automix, it always works fine. This isn't what 'AUTO' means to me though...I should have to worry about it and everything should load and play just fine....no matter what mode it's in.

Well Your right about one thing EL...It is a bad file...but it's not the mp3's...It's the virtual dj software...and the incompetence of it's developers...I work in a club and 3 other dj's with different computers...Different versions of virtual...and different mp3's ALL have this problem...
That's not all of it either...NOT ONE OF US can run the program for the continuous 8 hour shift...without a horrible screeching sound that comes up between 4 hours to 5 hours and goes out over the speakers...My friend paid over 300 dollars for his software with all the extra crap that came with it...We have dealt with these problems for years now...and have learned to shut down and restart another instance of the program after it hits 4 hours...
As far as the mp3's skipping...I'm at work NOW and already had 7 different instances where it skipped on me and made me look bad...I hate every developer that had anything to do with this program and they should have their heads examined for not putting this software to every available test before distribution...
I use it only for it's convenience of the automix and playlist...BUT if anyone has any other programs that are just as convenient as this one please post so I can recycle this crap after years of misery and humiliation...
