I am upgrading my ram and having a new soundcard installed....the VDJ site recommends a 4.1 soundcard with "front and rear" separate outputs ...what does that mean??...I am looking at the CreativeX Soundblaster...will this work/....I am looking to be as portable as possible....does my laptop plug directly into the mixer or do I need a "in between" device...
any advise would be appreciated...

As long as you don't use TCVs and TCCDs every soundcard in the market would do the job. It's hard to find a sound card less than 4.1 today. CreativeSoundblaster is ok. You don't need anyhting else. Laptop, USB Soundcard, mixer and a few cables.
