I have got 4 USB-devices on my notebook and i am using 3 of them. 1 for the DJ-Console, 1 for the external harddisk and 1 for the mouse. I just want to know if this could get a problem. I don't know, for example that VDJ crashes or the DJ-Console doesn't work at full power. please let me know.thanks.

Andy

hi andy

i have been working like that fot last three months(every night)
and no problems at all
i even have everything on a hub so that makes me using only one usb output on my laptop
so don't worry , it will work perfect

I use VDJ live at gigs 3 times a week in general...

I have a laptop w/ usb2 and 3 connected devices:
- Hercules
- external harddrive
- usb mouse

Have never had any problems with that ;)

I'm also looking into connecting another usb device, as I want to test an extra usb soundcard (giving me more line-ins for timecode), and I dont think that will cause any promblems neither... USB2 is extremely fast

What u all MIGHT consider is getting an POWERED usb2 hub, because there has been recomandations that Hercules will work better that way, and SOME laptops have also been said to have power issues at usb ports (for devices that dont have external power)

;)

The problem with a HUB is that it is limited to the maximum communcation bandwidth of the USB port it is connected on.

So if the sum of all your devices connected on this hub don't exceed the bandwidth of the port... it's OK.

That's why USB2.0 is better.

Nevertheless, you can had USB2.0 port on your laptop using PCMCIA-USB2 adapter.

On my laptop, I have only one USB1.1 port. So I add a PCMCIA-USB2.0 adapter that allow me to have:

- an external USB2.0 hard drive (on adapter)
- Hercules DJ Console
- XP10

I have had trouble with with what I touught was USB bottle necking. I was wrong. My problem was that my external HD was overheating and crashing the system.
