I bought a used hercules console from ebay, i installed the software and went to grab the update but it wont let me because the serial number has already been used here.
who do i contact and show proof of purchase to so that i can register the box and upgrades to me

You won't be able, because reselling a VirtualDJ/DJConsole licence is not authorized by EULA. Your ebay vendor has sold it illegally, please ask him for a refund and by a new one.

not really you still have the console, as its legal to by that but the license for vdj can't be transfered. You can still use the console, if you purchase your own license.
