Ok I've finally got a coffin for all my shite and now it looks like I need a coffin just for my wires.
Sheesh its ridiculous. I need 4 usb cables going into a hub.
1. icdx unit
2.ecler nuo4 mixer
3. icdx unit
4. external hdd
5. Usb cable from hub to laptop.
Power cords for Africa. Its not just the cords its the fricken adaptors that go along with them.
1. IEC cord to adaptor to icdx unit
2. IEC cord to ecler mixer
3. IEC cord to adaptor to icdx unit
4. Power adaptor for usb hub
5. Power supply unit for laptop
6. IEC cord to adaptor to external HDD
Besides that I've got 4 pairs of rca leads, Sound card cable input, 1 mic lead, 2 main leads to the amp & 2 output rca input for monitors.
Is that stupid or what??!!!!!
Thats not even including my lighting setup.
I'm trying to fit this crap in my coffin. I gotta say there must be a better solution. Some daisy chain method of power? Coffin weighs a ton, no wonder!
How does eveyone else hide their wires? I can see the advantages in rackmounts now!

If you're going to do mobile - Rackmount is the Shizzznit.
Permanent install - you can do either way.

Murphy's Law, what can go wrong will go wrong. Appendum for roadies: You have a million cables at all times. The one you need is always the one you dont have....

Got a flip monitor mount, a Gator 10x6, velcro shelf, Furman basic power processor and a custom built 3U with all the extras if you are interested in a starting point.

I hate how many cable you need, big factor in this game n wall worts are a pain in the arse. Dose anyone know of a rackmount radio mic that dose not use a wall wort?

I have the same issue as you do.
2 usb for ICDX
1 usb for DJiO
1 usb for External HD
2 power for ICDX
1 power for Mixer
1 power for Laptop
1 power for HD
I don't like the rack mount cases... I like the feel and look of the coffin case. I like the guest being able to see me mix on the players right infront of them and not behind a box.
I don't use a usb hub.. I run all my usb's to the laptop.

The biggest set back with rack mount is the weight of it all after it's all in one case. I went from lap top to RACK MOUNT - Threw my back out carrying it and spent a week in bed and just recently bought another lap top. If you dont find yourself having to deal with alot of steps rack mount is the shiznit. If climbing is in your mobile future think about it long and hard. Another issue i came across with the rack mount was getting into some of the booths at the local clubs i play in from time to time, Usually not enough room for the entire rack which left me removing pieces from the rack just to spin a few hours at a club. Another reason for going back to laptop.
They both have pros and cons, one never really knows what they are until they try it.
Good luck with your choice.

Everything said in the posts about rackmount system is valid, I have had many systems inc coffin style with the 1210's, CDJ & DNS however having wires all over the place really got on my tits so I stuck it out with rackmount. Some of you might of seen my post about QSA amps - no problems yet! the amps are really light and have enough power, re djphenominal post about putting your back out it's no joke I and just about every other DJ that I know has put there back out at some point.
I'll take a pic of my current system n post it tomorrow below is a pic of my first ever computer system that i built in about 2002 it was PCDJ based and took two people to lift.
