Hi there people, i have searched for an answer on mapping the crossfader control from the mixer to the video crossfader in VDJ but havnt been able to find a clear step by step answer.
I am using SSL 1 as the audio soundcard but have the midi output from my DJM running into an E-MU 404, are there any potential problems here?
I have tried going through the process of 'adding' midi and when i select midi in remote control it lights up green, however, it seems that when i move the fader on the mixer it dosnt record the movement in the midi mapper. My E-MU says it's recieveing the midi from the mixer so im sure there is no connection issues, it must be a setting on the computer.
One thing i did consider is whether the E-MU soundcard had to be set to internal or external for it to work, but i cant seem to make any progress on this.
Sorry for this being a bit of newbe question, but im desperate to get this sorted and if i can get it working buy the product.
Thanks!

Hey alixx. I use the DJM 800 and have it MIDI mapped. 1st what you need is a cord that goes from the mixer to your computer. I use this one which I bought from Guitar Center :: The M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface. Once you get this (or one like it) plug it into the port on the back of the mixer using the OUT plug and connect the other end to your usb port in your computer. You may have to install drivers but I'm not sure. Now if you go into config in VDJ check the general MIDI icon/activate and VDJ should recognize the mixer.
As far as mapping there is a ton of possibilities. If you just want the crossfader to do video you need to go into config/general midi/config and click add. Now move your crossfader. VDJ will recognize it and give it a value. I haven't done this for a while but I believe from there you click on video and choose video crossfade. Its not hard to figure out once everything is plugged up and recognized. Then go back into config/video and untick link crossfaders. Should be all good.

Hey Charlie, by coincidence after posting this i was reading your post on the SSL forum and sent you a private msg :)
So using the E-MU 404 on its own wont work? it has midi I/O and i thought the USB from it going to my PC would do the trick?

I'm not familiar with the E-MU 404. Hook it up and go into config/remote/general midi. Click activate then config. Move the crossfader. If you are getting a signal it will show up.

Yup i tried that, i take it there are soundcards that VDJ may not support, i have also tried it in ableton and serato midi mode and for some reason it wont work, yet the souondcard itself says it is recieving midi...strange really. I may just look into that cable you recomended if it definately works and hope it arrives before the demo expires, thanks for the help

Just to update, after speaking to pulse on the pioneer forum, i downloaded a free programme called midi-OX which monitors the midi communication between your soundcard and your pc, as soon as i installed it i asked it to record crossfader movements which showed up - great! i thought, then as soon as i went to VDJ it was taking the midi connection no problem...
