Ok, here is something that seems to be buggy not only on my computer but also computer at the club. It seems that when doing video out to projector via DVI Cable that once you minimise Virtual Dj, You can not get it to open back up unless you yank the Cable from the projector, or reboot computer. Has anyone else expierenced this?

What video card are you using in both computers, and what version of the drivers?

I've had similar problems in the past, but running VDJ windowed as opposed to fullscreen fixed it for me. Running windowed was better anyway as it allowed me to see bluetooth requests, upload pictures etc more easiler :)

Now that I think about it, yeah I've had that happen to me too. I don't run fullscreen to often, but I did have that problem when I did.

Same here.
Windowed is the cure. If u run a skin at the proper resolution it'll still fill the screen anyway.

I experienced this problem so often I no longer minimize VDJ during a performance. (Same problem on my home computer which has a totaly different video card) I'm not able to recover from the error without a total shutdown. (CD player to the rescue)
I've only upgraded to version 4.3 and this is the ONLY issue I have. I don't recal it being a problem with 4.0 but somewhere between then and now the problem developed for me at least.

I only run full screen, and never have that problem.

There is something buggy with minimize/maximize button. For me it causes skip to video & audio if i press it.

Hi all, i have the same problem too, plus it would be nice if VDJ had a (one click) to full screen on 2nd video output option on next update, like other dj software that i dont care to Name right now, LOL
Hope the Devs team sort this a.s.a.p. before the competition release there new software, hint hint "New Serato 2008 software that works with Numark controllers"

Maybe I am missing something. This option already exist. What is the reason for using the little window for the second output?

They arent talkin about the second output they are talkin about the main output (skin)

Sorry guys been sick the last few days.......but anyways regarding the video drivers, they were updated to recent ones fron NVIDIA. Its not the video card, becuase like I mentioned previously, there is club with similiar system (they have the new video card) and we are not using the activate window, activating the second output so it be monitor or whatever (we are outputing to Video Projector). And this is with the defualt VDJ skin, I havent had time to try any other skins, but sure its the same thing because its internal.

As I posted above, I've had this problem across various machines - laptops and desktops, with ATi and nVidia cards.
I did some more testing and found that if all your video outputs are the same resolution, you can generally minimize and restore - but it might well interfere with the video output temporarily.
I still maintain that if you are going to be needing to minimize or work in applications other than VDJ - whilst running a video setup - then you should run windowed rather than maximized. Then you can do as you want, and the video will just keep running, windows can maximize/minimize fine etc...

Scott

I have tried and tried to reproduce this and cant. I minimize and maximize all the time without issue.

Discobrain- are you using DVI? Both setups I have tried on use Nvidia graphics card and are shuttle boxes. The screen resolution is the same for both. Not suppose to go over 1024x768 on the projector. This also happens right away, VDJ doesnt need to be running for any certain period of time.....its definately something with the way the video output to second monitor is written. If using windowed no problem, but who wants a border around your video when playing in large audiences at big club in Detroit.

I think you misunderstand what I'm saying ;)
Don't run the video windowed - use that as normal - run the actual VDJ screen windowed, not maximied. This should resolve your issue. Also, it's independant of the output type - I've had it on VGA, DVI and S-Video/Composite.

I run VGA and S Video. Try this, Right Click on your desktop, Select Properties, Settings, Advanced, Monitor, and uncheck Hide Modes this monitor cant display. Now I am running 1280X768 on the main and 720X480 on the output. I run the VDJ in full mode and through VDJ run the 2nd output in full mode. I am running ATI Radeon X1950 Pro with Vista. I know I had issues before but I think it is something windows is doing to change the resolution or some kind of conflict with windows and the graphic card. Just give it a shot and tell me if it worked for ya.
Also run your monitor on 60mhz.

I really dont want to drop the resolution down on the output to the projector (defeats the purpose). I dont think its a windows problem because you can display both screen if you want to using other applications. I always run VDJ in full mode. Now I am not using ATI Radeon because I prefer NVIDIA over ATI (ATI has always been slow on releasing updates to drivers). I ll do some toying around this week to figure out a bandage fix, but I beleive this is something that needs to be looked at. Looks like alot of others had the same problem. I didnt believe the Club at first, but than tried my rig and same symptoms. Really weird that you cant Ctrl+Alt+Del and kill the process......either reboot or unplug the 2nd video output than VDJ responds. However no crashguard.
Mensajes Sun 20 Jan 08 @ 10:04 pm
Well the reason for using 720X480 is because that is what the videos are at, thats why I did it that way, prevents stretching and such of the output video.

Here is what I dound out after further toying around. I changed resolution in both monitors, and that didnt have effect. However instead of having Virtual Dj open up in Full Screen mode, (manually set it to use the full screen vs. the windows maximised button) seems to be the fix. Doing this I am able to play videos, and minimize Virtual DJ now.
So this is obviosuly a bug in Virtual DJ when in Full Window mode.
