Just wondered if anyone has played AVI files successfully with VDJ version 5 rev 6? All the videos I play are Mpeg-1. I've tried using some AVI videos I took with my Canon camera as a spur of the moment thing for my show and they came out choppy when played with VDJ. I have no problems with the Mpeg video, just the AVI files. Anyone had any luck with AVI?
Thanks,
Ronnie

I tried playing AVI files twice and they actually stopped in the middle of the montage for no reason. I never figured out why.

Just curious, what kind of video card do you have?
Thanks

I run music video files in avi format exclusively and the only problem. Some are encoded using the divx codec and they take a few seconds to load (the computer screen will freeze while they are loading but the "secondary" output and the music keep playing fine) and I have recently started using the Ligos Indeo 5.11 codec and I have no problems whatsoever...........had only one crash in the last 18 months and that was due to a faulty power cord....I have a Nvidia Gforce 7600gt and a 7300gt on my two computers.

we've never had a problem playing .avi files, only .vob files. and after we put in a better video card it never gave any problems.
put the best video card you can afford in. it's usually worth it and solves alot of problems.

I've also never had any problems with files in AVI containers. More important that the AVI extension is what actual codec the files are using?

That its an AVI file says nothing...
AVI is just a container. So "inside" the avi file, it can be all from mpeg, divx, xvid and a ton of more coded films ;)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have a Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS video card. I'll try using the Ligos Indeo 5.11 codec and see if that takes care of it. I'm not sure how the codec works. Since the AVI is the container, and it could be any of a number of films, wouldn't it be advantageous to install multiply codecs?
Thanks

yes, defo.... An Avi file can be "any" file (its just a container format, like Quicktime is also)
Download this codec pack, and you should be golden :

Thanks dj-in-norway, but....
I installed the codec pack (http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/)....still the same problem....the music plays ok but the video and VDJ momentarily freezes and studders when playing AVI files. And these are short (15 - 30 second) videos.

Ok, I guess I didn't know what was going on. I thought when I installed ffdshow that it would install an assortment of codecs which would allow me to play the AVI files in VDJ. I didn't realize until last night it was actually a program, a complicated program at that. Where do I go from here? What do I do with this program to get my codecs in line for the AVI files?
Thanks again....you've been a great help.
