Forum: Old versions

Tópico: 4.3 vs. 5.0.7 Kindly Take A Look at This.

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I've had a sponsored complete box set of Virtual Vinyl sitting in my studio since last summer. It means that I've haven’t had the set out on the clubs jet. I've now considered doing so, but there is a thing or two I'd like to ask you girls before doing so.

Info you might need: The laptop I’ve got for the purpose is ONLY for the use of VV. No office, MSN, mail, movie, Cuebase etc. etc. Nothing else is installed. It’s an AMD 64X2 with 2 mbRam. I use vinyl only.

I’ve read a lot on the two forums about trouble with the 5.XXX version, one of the reasons I haven’t upgraded the 4.3 there was in the kit. I’ve only been fooling around with the 4.3 for the fun of it but not used it serious. I imagined I front of thousands of people, blue screen, mute of sound, reboot or freeze and I’ll be the warn up-guy for the next five years if not parking cars.

1. Is the 5.1.0.7 as safe as the 4.3 now?

2. I prefer much more to miss out ANY new features in the 5.1.0.7 from the 4.3 if the 4.3 is more reliable – so do I keep the 4.3?

3. Since I don’t have any playlist data etc. I’d like to COMPLETELY remove the old 4.3 software down the roods, also in application and other Windows databases, before installing the 5.1.0.7 – how do I do that?

Thanks very much for your time!

5.0.7 is far better than 4.3 in many regards, so I'd advice the upgrade.

If you have nothing to keep (database etc), just uninstall the program, and alternatively use this registry cleaner that will remove all traces of VV on your system :

Then reinstall ;)

Better, yes - but what about security against breakdown, freeze, reboots etc.?

Hej Norge! ;-)

Well, hard to say, some feels that older releases are safer, some say newer...

Generally speaking, newer releases have included a lot of bug fixes, so should be a lot safer.

(but then also new features introduced, that migth have bugs).

You can of course have BOTH versions running side by side, just copy the 4.3 EXE file, and rename the COPY to VV_4.3.exe, and then install the 5.x version. This way you have both versions available ;)

Og ellers alt bra i Danmark? hehe

Exactly! That’s what I mean.

Two of the same is all right for work but when it’s live I just can’t take the chance for conflicts with two of the same.

Is there any way to see if ALL of the VV 4.3 files is gone before installing the 5.1.7?

Alt er super bra, tak. Vældig længe siden jeg har jobbet i Norge.

Just give the new version a try, and you can always go back to previous version if you feel its lesser safe to use :)

I use currently 5.0.x on all my gigs,

DJ IN NORWAY,

Is the VDJ version 5.0.7 out for all yet?

I just checked and it is still 5.0.6...

???

Thanks,

DJ TAO :)

TAO, I think they're talking about virtual vinyl version ;)
