Tópico: Remote Access Supprt Help

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

An idea... It genuinely bothers me that so many users have problems. I feel odd that I have been using VDJ with absolutley no problems since April 07 and few problems for 8 months before that.

It seems that alot of threads run on and on with no real resolve for the poor user. So I was thinking, could it not help that some support agents start to use the internet to it's potential to help out people? There seems to be a standard way of checking into it, but often the system doesnt seem to be too effective for some common problems like the distortion issue. The problem is, is it even distortion or just an inaccurate description leading to inaccurate offered solutions? No offense to sufferers of the problem, but unless you can define the difference between distortion, clipping and digital feedback (as opposed to analog), I cant trust your diagnosis. I'ts like going to the doctor and saying 'i have xxxx disease and the doctor frowns and says, no you have an upset stomach :-('

So... a possible way to solve problems which seem to be unending...

Windows has a Remote Assistance feature which can be accessed through email or MSN. Why dont we just get permission to connect to the user and check out the setup directly? You could also use RealVNC (used to called WinVNC) is free and encodes/pipes the inputs from screen, keyboard and audio directly, so you can actually hear the sound if the connection is good (although not sure it works with ASIO cards, but worth the try)

I for one would offer my help to do such a thing. It wont mean that I can solve it, and I wont be held reposible for getting it fixed, but would try my best to help out. Im sure others would do it too, and it would probably save alot of time writing posts that many dont read anyway.

Any opinions by the teamers?

Ok, using two machines on my local network, I've tried this out and it works. I think using a decent connection it should be feasible. Three programs are needed to do it but it works. The only fallbacks are two things: 1) internet connection, ive not tested this remotely so i have no idea what the data pipe required is. 2) firewalls, which may present more hassle than worth. however i know vnc so i think this idea should work providing the remote user has access to their own firewall.

The cool thing is that I was able to hear distortion when i tried silly things like boosting vdj eq way too much...

1) RealVNC is installed which is the remote assistance client (http://www.realvnc.com/cgi-bin/download.cgi)
2) Virtual Audio Cable is installed which is a handy sound redirector. it will actually redirect your asio or wdm sound to a virtual input (http://www.ntonyx.com/vac_demo.htm)
3) Speek Freely is installed which is a free VoIP program which will take the virtual input and pipe it to the 'assister' (http://www.speakfreely.org/)

If someone has some decent understanding of firewalls and how to setup access to allow ports, i'd be willing to give this a shot with them. If we can establish this is a worthwhile thing, I'll write a detailed setup guide....
