hi, this may be a helpful summary for others that have the same questions...
firstly, i am about to purchase ssl package this week but want to use vdj software.. i know its possible but i keep reading stuff about a plugin that i may need but cannot find anywhere.. will it jus be plug and play after i install the serato package? also, i read somewhere that there are some limitations (like only being able to use relative mode)... is that true? any other negatives when using serato equipment with vdj?
secondly, and more importantly... i also want to buy some new vinyls... a) will my new serato vinyls work with vdj? and b) colored or not colored are there gen 4 vinyls coming soon? i dont need an exact date but i dont wanna end up buying gen 3 then gen 4 a week later!! maybe a developer can help answer that question with an approx time frame
thanks in advance

If you do not need to share with other DJs using using SSL , why check out Virtual Vinyl , it gives you guarantied good results with Cue/Vdj its the same concept as the ssl 1 interface a dedicated audio interface for VDJ.
You must always run the ssl 1 off a power supply also or the outputs can turnoff when switching between computers if you ever need to swap with other DJS.
The ssl1 is a very good card but can have some issues with connection at times as its not really meant to be used with other applications.
Both VV and the SSl 1 require a minimal install to use on windows after this they are both plug and play and can be chosen as a preset in sound options.
The box is supported its just, the vinyls are currently not natively supported there is no needle drop functionality and there is a slight difference in the pitch , a plugin is under development to give full support.
Gen 3 VDJ vinyls are available worldwide from the web store here or as Replacement VV vinyls available at your nearest numark distributor.
Colored vinyls are being investigated subject to demand , but there is no plans for a gen 4 just yet.

tryed the vinals from final , sereto, and other time codes.. they kinda work but there was a delay in the video it was a pain in the butt.. I now have the virtdj vinals and have no issues .. time codes are simular if you know how they work its like using leaded gas in a new lambo.. might work for a bit but why not just spend a few more cents and have unlimited power??? I have set up all of they systems for different djs and clubs .. each have there own pos and neg... one thing about virt I like is the upgrades are free... why have to pay each time they up grade?? Not here .. i dont work here i just use it..Michael

thanks for the response... the main reason i am purchasing serato is the fact that its sooo widely accepted and as a mobile club dj i play along side many that use serato and it would be better if i knew both platforms... but i wanna be able to use the card with vdj since i hear that it is quite good..
and sky, can u please clearify 2 things: 1) "You must always run the ssl 1 off a power supply also or the outputs can turnoff when switching between computers if you ever need to swap with other DJS. " i was always under the impression that u could jus plug and unplug as u wished... how would i incorporate an external power supply? do u have to split the usb from the start? (is that even possible)
and 2) when u say "there is a slight difference in pitch" you were only talking about using the serato vinyls correct? will the pitch correct itself if i just use my vdj gen 3 vinyls with the sl1 box? cause that would be great
thanks
