I was wondering if VDJ is thinking of adding DMX controll to the software one day?

Its already there...look in the manual.....

DMX control with VirtualDJ already exists. However, it is written for specific DMX controller format - SIUDI.
You access the DMX capabilities from the Config -> Remote Control tab -> The icon with that looks like a Scanner type fixture.

You can look at the SIUDI controllers here - http://www.nicolaudie.com/
It is the SunLight brand of DMX software.

cstoll: I have asked this before but was wondering anyway...now that you have teamed with PCDJ will you offer the PCDJ-DMX control within the software?

PCDJ promised this back before you guys signed but was wondering if it was in the works or something that is not desired?

Thanks....

That is for PCDJ to decide with those in the Corporate Level of Atomix. I would tell you that it would be a wise decision for PCDJ VJ to have such integration and maybe something for the future. It would really bring their product lines in alignment like they have always tried to do. But as for that integration to be made in VirtualDJ, I don't know and really not my area to comment. But it would be nice to have a more 'FULL FEATURED' DMX interface or integration then what currently exists in VirtualDJ.

It would be awesome indeed, to integrate the pcdj dmx software. But I think it will be not that easy, while pcdj didn't develop this software themselves.
Ewout

wow, I'll have to look into that. I already own the Sunlight DMX software and dongle. I wonder if I'm good to go?

I can't find it, where is it in the manual???

So you need the Sunlite software and dongle?

will it work with the sunlite "basic class"?

Hippy: You do not need the software from sunlite. You need the dongle. As long as you have that you are all set. I can make a post here with the basic info to get you started. I gave Brian some info but not sure if it helped or not.

It does work and depending on what you are using it works great. I love it with the Weidamark cans and two simple scanners like the Nova Scans.

I use a midi controller to trigger scenes and chases. Works good for what it is.

Instead of 'locking' themselves into one software, they should first allow ANY DMX controller software work with Virtual DJ..
IE: what if someone already invested in chauvet Xpress or Martin Lightjockey?

+ correct me if I'm wrong, but the sunlite dongle includes the software anyways..
I'm assuming the Sunlite is way more advanced that what the built in control of virtual DJ has.. IE: complex circles and scenes of the scanners..
BUT if you use the Sunlite software, can it take its cues from what song your playing in Virtual DJ?
If you use Virtual DJ's DMX controll, can you build complicated scenes like sunlite? or is it more like using a standard hardware controller? (where you build it scene and 'record it' and then group them into chases and the chases into banks.)

I looked in the manual, and couldnt really find anything on DMX control, what section is it in?

my question is WHICH sunlite interface device will work properly with VDJ? Also, does the control work solely through VDJ or does VDJ control the Sunlite software? Either way is cool with me, computer power is of no consequence to me, I'm just DYING to ditch my external DMX controller and get some ACTUAL music syncing and control through my PC!

Lookng for more info on the DMX control. I can't find any text in either of the manuals available online. I have the required hardware.

I can't find any mention of DMX...

since version 6, its basically not usable..
some of the commands are still available but no script or Controller Definitions have been built..

If enough users show an interest I'm hoping we can get it 'back on the table'..
as 'issues' go, DMX is probably WAY down on the list of what the programmers & teamers need to concentrate on.

do a search on DMX in the forums.. their is some interesting information out there..
