Tópico: Who is at TOP

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Artists keep on changing so do albums. But there are some artists and albums which remain etched in your memory. take top albums of today. I am told Fergie: Big Girls Dont Cry is top in US but not in UK. Will it be one of those I talked about as remaining evergreen. Can we spot it early as one of those?

Impossible to say,...
But if it gets played too much on radio, it dies... for decades. But might rise again when retro-cool

Take "Call On Me" ... Noone will hear that now ;)

But who knows, in 2012 at the 2000's Retro Party ;)

I still drop call on me, sandstorm and every time we touch along with whats up. I think the guy wants to know what songs having staying power. The example big girls don't cry is a bad one and has a worse video. I doubt seriously it will survive, being a slow tune it already has one strike in my book. Anyways we all have standards we play all the time. With the disposable music era we live in now I doubt we ever see music like in the past. Heck anyone with a computer can call them selfs a recording artist. Case and point souja boy.

Groups with staying power that I get requests for all the time.

Guns and Roses
Bon Jovi
ZZ TOP
ACDC
Motley Crue
Posion
Van Halen
Kim Mitchell (only in canada)
Rolling stones
Jimi Hendrix (People still do the "garth" dance)
Ozzy Ozbourne
Steelers Wheel

Newer Bands I get Requests for all the time:
Nickleback
Finger 11
System of A down
Disturbed
Korn
Metallica
Fall Out Boy

Dance songs will pack a dance floor all the time and some have surprising staying power.

Got your money - ODB
Informer - Snow
Bust a Move - Young MC
Get the party started - pink (redman version)

There's too many to list. Thing is that most musician type bands have staying power where as dance acts seem to fade out after maybe 2 cd's

Rappers would fit in with rock bands to me. Some are very very creative and talented.

Some suck

every week I look for some redeeming glimmer of light is a vast sea of crap music that has been expelled from the bows of a record label with severe indigestion. So far I'm not impressed in early 08. Could be a sign of the times though. Promo only express video, humm well what can I say other then i really don't feel bad compressing those tracks to mp4. Out of each disk there may be one or two tracks that may last more then a week.

One thing is for sure, I get more requests for retro 80's (what they really mean is 90s) then the soul-less urban constantly bashing us over the head (superman that ho) enjoy!
