I am trying to use Premiere Pro to do simple edits to my VOB files, but Premiere Pro cannot recognize the file. I've tried renaming the VOB extension to MPG and to MPEG, with same result.
Is there anybody out there doing this?

Dont know about CS3 but all previous versions of Premiere only recognized .avi files....switch to Sony Vegas it's a MUCH BETTER and more user friendly program and it works with all kinds of formats

Hmmm... I've got a lot of time and money invested in Premiere Pro platform. How much is Sony Vegas? And are there any other alternatives such as a freeware/shareware program that can do just basic cuts and splits?

you can change the file extension from "vob" to "mpg" and it should import just fine.

Tip: In Sony Vegas You don't need to change file extension from .vob to MPEG
In the drop down box change it from import "All Media Files" to ALL FILES. Then the VOB file will be shown and import fine.
Hey low-fat-al it's a 10 second time saver! LOL
