I have the Pioneer 800's. Should I trade em in for Numark iCDX?
Which deck is better. Why?
Which deck is better for VDJ.

iCDX doesnt need timecode to control VDJ, but its far from as good a deck as CDJ 800, if you are a scratch dj.
If you arent a scratch DJ, the iCDX is a good choice.
Btw, Pioneer have released their "iCDX clone", called Pioneer CDJ-400, and feature wise, well worth considering too

Far from as good huh...Wooooooow.
I guess the timecode issue I am having is driving me to consider another deck. "But I like my 800's".

Are you a scratch dj? as far as I remember from the radio, you are...
The iCDX is not a scratch deck, sorry. It can scratch, but only basic waka waka stuff.. and its not touch sensitive like the other scratch decks, you need to PRESS the platter as a "button"
The CDJ-400 will also control VDJ directly, without timecode, and is far better as scratch deck, than iCDX. But still not all CDJ 800.
In the world of vinyl emulation, the top dogs are CDJ 800/1000 or Denon 3500/5000.

As of right now the CDJ-400 is not natively supported like the iCDX is. True there are mappers available but they are not very responsive for the jog...and the TIME?TEXT display and all LEDS are dead when used as a midi. I own both units and as of this moment I would rather have the iCDX, to use with VDJ/CUE.....once native is available...that could change. The CDJ-400 is a real nice unit..the jog dial is way more responsive, if your into scratching, and the lay out is very clean, and well laid out. The iCDX can do thumb drives, like the CDJ but, the access point is on the back of the unit...with the CDJ its ON TOP of the unit....very smartly done by Pioneer there. I hope that helps with your question.....

The CDJ 400 will be supported nativly asap... No worries

Numark has been around for 30 years in the DJ industry...hardly what I would call second level.

Funny how everyone will get into a thread about which one is better or This vs. That. I started this thread because I have an issue with my 800's and tccd. If I can't get that issue resolved, I'll have to go to another deck but I REALLY don't want to. I'm not made of money. DJ IN NORWAY has been a friend for a number of years here in this forum and I value his help. I long for the days when fellow VDJ'ers helped someone in need of help. I'm not saying that none do but that support is not what it once was.
Virtual DJ is a GREAT program for the bedroom dj, the beginner dj, the semi pro dj, and the Pro Dj like myself and all the others.
Every now and then something happens where a member may need some help, support, and/or guidance. Someone may need to change the way they have been dj'ing from a controller to TCV or from a maya 44 to a different soundcard, or someone like me who is a real good dj but not a computer tech and needs help getting VDJ to work correctly with new hardware (Funny, I never thought of C.D. Players as "Hardware").
I would love to see the old VDJ spirit come alive again in these forums and see people that need help get the help they need.
I know you are out there all over the world. Please support not just the product but the people who use the product.
By the way...The 400's look NICE. I like what they can do. I'm not a big fan of the small platter though. I guess if I "HAVE TO" I would get used to them. But getting the 400's would bring a whole new set of tech questions to this forum.
Are you prepared to answer them?

If you're still that hiphop dj you where back at the radio, I'd say timecode plus cdj800 (as you have) is the best deal...
Did you try what I suggested?
1) CDJ's in VINYL mode
2) in VDJ, choose VINYL mode too, in timecode settings
3) in VDJ performance tab, choose auto for latency
4) in timecode settings, turn OFF clearsound
5) press auto config, in timecode settings...
I use CDJ 800 with VDJ alll the time, and absolutely love it... It works flawless..
Hope we can get you there...

Might want to read here ... http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/87380/Hardware_Technical_Support/icdx_Vs__Hercules_MK2.html
And what kind of tech questions would there be ?
As to your comment on 'getting help', I think the issue that most have with giving feedback is that most people only state what is the problem and give nothing about how their setup is configured. And it is very tiresome to always see and make the first response "What are your specs and configuration settings?" Now with that said and reading what information you have provided in your post is that you still have not said anything about how you have your MAYA setup OR your Timecode settings.
If you would provide that information - Myself, Dj-in-Norway, and others would be able to guide you a lot quicker to a resolution. I use the MAYA with Denon DNS-5000s so I am sure we can get the configuration setup... just need more information.
BTW, if you are using version 5.0.7, ASIO Mode, please put a check in the Ultra-Latency box on the Soundsetup tab.

Yepp... I'm still a Hip Hop DJ.
I have tried the settings you gave me and still no good. I just don't get it.
I want this to work Sooooo bad. I miss DJ'ing like I used to and I know i'm close to being able to do so again if I can get the TCCD to work right.
What else could I be doing wrong?
I see MANY times there is no DJ on the radio. Maybe I should come back to the radio and do what I do. Tccd or no tccd.

MOST welcome back at radio man ;)

I have tried your suggestions and it kinda worked. The platter in VDJ reverses when it feels like it. I don't know how to provide specs and configurations. I just know how to DJ not how to describe configurations so if i seem a little needy, I am sorry. I just want VDJ to work.
And I would love to come back to the radio.

Do this check list
1) Does it read 100% timecode signal?
2) Does it have a red and green wave in timecode settings, that looks like a nice sinus wave, where red and green are a bit seperated?
To me it sounds a bit like you have too loud signal into your soundcard, because that makes timecode acts funny
Mensajes Thu 20 Mar 08 @ 3:34 pm
I still have 0% timecode signal. I see the wave and it's not all the way accross the window, just on the left side of the window. I'm gonna try to turn down the input on the maya44 and see if that helps.
