Tópico: Last chance for Virtual vinyl [SOLVED]

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Last chance for virtual vinyl after this its going in the bin. Its never worked properly since the day ive bought it!

Currently using a 1.6ghz dual core laptop 2gig of ram,
Tried a 2.6ghz PC and 2gig of ram same things happen.

Tried every thing possible all the settings at there lowest and I still get problems. when playing a track i hear loads of little glitches in the sound and that knocks things out of the mix very easily. the pitch is not 100% It can be in time then slowly move in and out by its self. My 1210's are brand new and I dont have a problem mixing ordinary vinyl.
Ive tried literaly every thing! Tried the control unit plugged into the mains and out. New USB leads all the USB ports.
Settings are currently set to 'fastest' and safe mode and over clock are un ticked. When i go into my performance settings by clicking cntrl, alt and delete.the laptop never seems to be using all its power when running the program the processor never goes higher than 60% Tried clicking the process and upgrading the priority. Does nothing. Time codes are at 100% when at the lowest settings. If i raise up the settings the time codes get lost and the glitches are more common.

Any one recomend any thing else for me to try?

Thanks Danny

Which Cartridges do you use?

A good one to invest in is ortofon concorde digitracks they are specially modified to give a good time code signal.

How does the timecode signal look on Config > Sound Setup big small , you should have two constant waves red and green

is the quaity at a constant 100%?

Please try to set the latency to auto as the vv box will always work at the lowest latency's possible.

A shuttle or desktop computer with a delta 1010lt. USB with timecodes gave me nothing but problems;^]

@Dj Rwd

Are you using the external power of the VirtualVinyl sound card? If so, try without it.

Try altering Pitch Sensitivity to 2000, I had this pitch movement (+-0.5) on my 1210's when I first set up the Timecode.

Also Try Unchecked Safe mode, Check Overclock and uncheck Quality and Check Latency.

Still no better. Did what every one said if any thing its worse with the power supplie unplugged! Heres a clip of what its doing. This is just a single track starting you can hear the glitches in the sound quite often.

http://www.handgrecordings.com/Ye4h.mp3 its no were near perfect. As you can hear that in the mix would sound horrible.

Pitch sensitivity is at 2000 tried it at 400, 1000 and also 3000 makes no diffrence

try and remove your keylock

And disable Auto beat matching.

Have you tried using the different modes, smart, relative and absolute in the Timecode config.

First of all, ignore my icon because i dont use virtual vinyl anymore... Now, I went to a dj store called I DJ NOW to buy a mixer. I was looking around a saw that they were selling NUmark virtual vinyl..... I asked the sales guy about virtual vinyl and he told me that the majority of the people that buy it bring it back due to many problems. he said that serato is the number one selling product from its reliablity. I used both and spent time with using both. I can tell you one thing and that is......... Serato can make you go further in dj skills beyond virtual dj. Its not about samples, effetcs, or changing the colors or skins. Its the stored cue points that dont erase unless you erase them yourself. I was sold by reliablity, cue pionts That are always there & hardly any configuration because the serato box is strickly fro serato only. 1 + 1 = 100 % compatable.

One thing i noticed about virtual dj and Virtual vinyl and that is....... You have to config, config, config, & config........ Thats only at home. When you dj at a club or house party, you have to config, config, config. I dont have time for that....... Its embarrasing to have no music playing and everyone is looking at you. I have a reputation. Since i started using serato, i never had a problem.

Absoloute is the only thing it can be set up at. The rest are worse! Auto beat matching is disabled will try the key lock tho. Thanks

- Turn ClearSound off at VDJ timecode setting (IMPORTANT!) - This is the one I think you missing
- Use about 500-1000ms pitch latency (cosmetic anyway, how fast skin updates pitch, but you dont want lower, as it catches wow and flutter from turntables)
- Use auto for latency in VDJ performace setting
- Use UltraLatency in VDJ soundcard settings

Now, after all this, press AUTO CONFIG in timecode settings, and make sure you get 100% timecode reading. If not, something is wrong/distorting. So try ground your turntables to your PC.

You mention glitch.. like pop or crackle? Only reason that happens is that you have too low latency set, so the soundcard runs out of audio data (buffer) and gives a pop/crackle when running out, or glitch/skip, when waiting for new audio data from CPU.. Increase latency if you experience this, but hopefully auto latency will take care of it.

if you still experience glitch/skip after this, its your USB port, that cant handle continous data stream at super low latency (gets interupted by other hardware, most likely because they share same IRQ "phoneline" to the CPU). So you got two choices.

1) Increase latency manually in VDJ performance tab, and turn off UltraLatency in VDJ soundcard setting

2) Swap the soundcard to new usb port, preferably other side of laptop if laptop.

Hello , where are you located? if its in north america .. I will be happy to walk you through everything.. Im using M audio as well... Im a user just like you, im willing to help. message me in private ...Michael

Sorted it! Thanks all. Turned the key lock off and every thing ruse smoothly :S What does the key lock button do? Its definetly that, if i turn it back on it all goes funny again!

Key lock as I understand it and have used it, is so you can change the speed without changing pitch;^]

The key lock is a feature, that stops the vocal or vocals of a track sounding like chipmunks, when the pitch is increased to beat match another track whilst mixing. Well that's my interpretation of it, may be wrong though.

Glad you get it all sorted anyway.

i'm gald i was able to help but just by the recording and listening to the mp3 i knew the problem.I think i deserve a second star next to my name.

^^^ Yeah deffiently give him one! Thanks a lot :)

Glad its sorted, and you back mixing smoothly with VV ;)

Although keylock shouldnt be an issue, but maybe there is a bug. Keylock should not even work in absolute mode, no software aids should. Thats the whole idea of absolute mode... Absolute turntable control, and most real-life emulation of vinyl use.

That being said, I recommend you to at least try smart mode, and see if you like it. It gives the best of both world, e.g vinyl control with software aids/features on top.

But anyways, glad it sorted ;)
