Gang -

I just built my newest rig. Asus mobo duo core w/ pci-e.

Using XP, I load a video - so far so good. Upon loading a second one, the screen has red/blue/green horozontal bars - only on that 2nd display. It shows up on both the 2nd monitor and the mini preview.

Any clue?

Thanks gang!

it will be one of 3 things

1) You have a codec problem.

2) directx is not up to date

2) directx acceleration conflicting with your video card acceleration. (most likely)

To solve for #1) Update your codec pack either from your video card driver pack or from one of the freeware sites
To solve for #2) Update your directx from microsoft.com
To solve for #3) right click your desktop (display properties) go to settings tab, advanced button, troubleshoot tab, a hardware acceleration slider will appear. silde it down to nothing, and bring it back up one notch at a time untill the lines come back, then back it off one notch.

It took me a few trys till I stumbled on to this fix,

See this thread:

http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/82487/PC_Version_Technical_Support/Strange_video_issue__1_2_screen_green_and_red_stripes.html

I still can use all effects - sometimes up to 5 layers of effects at once. I format my video files as mpeg1 (SVCD quality) or VOB(DVD files) both look very nice on my practise display. As well as the strip club screens & projectors.

Would it help if I used WMP vs other codec?

1:) Basic whatever comes w/ XP SP2 and K-Lite standard.
2:) DirectX 9.0c latest.
3:) That - I have not yet tried. I am using the latest driver from EVGA for the 7600gs geforce. Maybe I should visit Nividia and see what drives they have.

Thanks!

VDJ video codec will be whatever codec you have set as your default media player. If it's media player(most people)then it's already set to WMP.
(took me a LOOOOONG time to figure that one out)

BTW I had a NVIDIA 7600 gt 256 PCI-E just before switching to an ATI 2600pro 512.

I had the same issue with both cards till I stumbled across the directx fix. But by then I'd already bought the ATI card, so I put the EVGA card in my GF's comp.

Changing from 'video decoder' to wmp decoder in codecs seemed to solve the video issue.

Thanks!

Oh and acceleration is max.

Now after playing a spell, the avi video loops just fine, but as a vob, kinds just jitters during a loop.

All using WMP codecs via k-lite.

Thanks!
