if you are experiencing video troubles, try to optimize them. Maybe you have been asking for the best video codec, the answer is IN your video card. You first must look at your video tech specs and search for which internal codecs is dedicated your video card. I mean, most of the cards can work internally with the videos (this means GPU does the work for the CPU). Once you find the codecs your VC is ready for GPU decode, then you should convert your videos to that codec. This will give you a better flow.
To convert video format i use a free application called SUPER encoder. You can find it at erightsoft website. As far as i tested is very good one and totally freeware.
