Hello,
Im looking for a sound Card where I can buy (UK), I don't want to break the bank and don't need to as i wont be playing through any large setups, just 1000w amp on a few 300w speakers.
I have looked at a few of these and wondered if anyone could give me a idea of what is the best, really I would like £20 and under, however have included some over that, if they really are going to make much difference on the above setup then I may consider.
Terra Tec Aueron 5.1 USB - £31 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/TerraTec-Aureon-5-1-MKII-10075/dp/B000KYALCI
Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 USB - £39 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-70SB049002008-Sound-Blaster-Surround/dp/B000KFQTD2/ref=pd_sbs_ce_title_1
Trust 510ex Usb 5.1 Sound - £19 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/79214
and if you know of any others that I can get in the UK under £30.
Thanks,
Ashley

I have Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 USB and it works just fine, only limit is it has only one input so you can't use Timecode option.

Thanks, I am bending towards the Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 Ive read some good reviews about it, specially for people using it as a DJ, would be nice if anyone could comment on their expirence with this card. Good or Bad.
Also I won't be using TimeCode Options currently, so wont need to worry about having only one input.
Thanks,
Ashley

It is a good card, good dynamics and low latency too, I used it before Hercules MK2 and I see no difference in sound quality between the two. Highly recommended.

Thanks good to see you compare it to such cards as the "Hercules MK2", I suppose once you get into large rigs setups you would see a difference.
Looks like I will be buying this Card, apart from if anyone comes along in the next 24 hours or so before I place the order for the card.
Thanks,
Ashley

Hi I’ve been using the Creative Soundblaster for a while now and it’s been problematic for me, ever since I got a new laptop with Vista.
The card has regularly it crashed or hung this occurred not only when djing but if I was watching a film or streaming live radio
I spoke to creative about the problem who weren't really helpful at all.
In the end I hunted around for some fixes etc and it seems to have settled down (touch wood)
Previous to this i'd had no problems when using the card with XP, i'm currently concidering dual booting my laptop with xp exculsively for my dj setup
cheers
Tom

What are the fixes that you found that have helped the setup?
As I am mostly probably going to purchase the Creative, and just in case I have the same problems on my Vista laptop.
Thanks,
Ashley

Hi,
Does the Creative have dual outputs, or would I still need to run one channel from the headphone socket of my laptop? Presumably it's better to have dual outputs from one card, for identical latency and levels?
Tempted to go ahead with this card as seems well recommended on here. Let me know if I should consider anything else. No plan to go down the timecoding route.
Thanks,
Russell

It has plenty of outputs, its a 5.1 card so has 3 stereo outputs Front/Back/Base however in Virtual DJ they can be setup for each Mixer and a another line.

Yes, you can use 2 separate decks plus output for samples which is great feature with this card.
About the drivers, this site might help:
http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/
and I quote:
" Fixed multichannel playback in Vista
Minor Vista compatibility issues fixed
Fixed Master volume in sndvol32.exe and minor Mixer API-related fixes (WinXP, Vista)"
This drivers should work on Vista ok, and you can always use www.asio4all.com

Thanks.
I'm about ready to go ahead, but just wondering whether for latency and rock solid reliability, a PCMCIA card might be a better bet? The one I'm considering is the Indigo Echo (http://www.westenddj.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ECHO_INDIGO_DJ_CARD).
Admittedly it's 3x the price of the Creative - am I right in thinking the latency and reliability might be worth the extra? or am I worrying for nothing?
If it's relevant, I'm running a 2.2Ghz dualcore Thinkpad with 1GB RAM.
Thanks,
Russell

Hi
Not sure, but I have no lag on USB, latency is good. I think I was able to put SB on 5ms and it was working, that is good even for TCV.
Just make sure that you have PCMCIA slot, new laptops have PCI-Express which is not compatible.

Thanks for the help. Think I'll put my scepticism on hold and give it a try - only £30 on Pixmania (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/462246/art/creative/sound-blaster-surround-5.html).

Gang -
I am in this boat as well.
Currently, I have this:
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/wt192l/
but looking to get this:
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaporthd/
I don't use TC, but do enjoy the 6ch that the Maya44 (both PCI and USB) cannot provide.
Thanks gang!
