Tópico: Newbie with Video Quality Question

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I'm new to the forum and I'm very close to buying VDJ for my video. I use Traktor for my audio and love it, but I want to make my VJing virtual as well. I am going to import all my DVDs onto a master drive in their "full quality" and then maybe encode them on another drive to bring their file size down to use on the road. Does anyone out there use the full quality videos? Just curious if VDJ is stable enought to work with files that large or is encoding them down the better way to go? Any tips on the encoding of my DVDs would greatly appreciated. Again I'm new to the software which I have yet to buy, but I want to start importing my videos This week. Thanks, Jeff

Hi, a lot of people on here use the .vob files straight off a DVD. That's what I use- definately no problem with the larger file size. If anything, re-encoding can create problems if you use an obscure codec, or don't get a setting right, etc.

With hard drives being so inexpensive, it's probably easiest to start playing without re-encoding your videos. Once you've nearly filled your hard drive and got a bit of experience using the program then you could have a re-think I guess. But definately no problem with files straight off DVD.

Hope that helps.

I use a cheap software to ripp my DVD's

http://clubdjpro.com/vjripper.php

It encodes videos to mpeg1 or 2 all automatically - just type in titles and click OK.

I use mpeg2 because it give a very nice quality image, and it's an older format so almost every media player supports it.
