I'm using Virtual DJ with the Hercules Console as my soundcard. I use timecode CDs but have come across a confusing problem. It started when I was live on my first gig with virtual DJ! Thank heavens I had a hercules console instead of a plain soundcard (worked ok as a midi controller but I struggle with the small buttons and knobs on it - ruined my night). When I practised at home, just before I packed it all, I did not have the problem and had not changed any settings. The problem has stuck with me ever since.
I am using Denon DNS-3500 CD players and have downloaded the timecode from this site. The problem I am having is that Timecode works perfectly on the left deck but not on the right.
After looking at the waveform in the timecode config menu I found that the left deck had a smooth wave at 100% but the right had a blocky disjointed waveform at 0%. Autoconfig does not solve the problem. I have changed all cables, swopped the CD players and even timecode cds over (in case they are the cause) but its always the right deck. The left deck plays flawlessly wether its video or audio and whichever CD player is connected to it.
I do not think it is latency as the left deck works fine even when I turn down to 2ms. I normally have it at 11ms and the problem does not go away even if I turn it all the way up.
Am I doing something wrong?
