I like vdj i think its a very good program but for some reason it was not made to work with rackmont players such as the numark cdn 88 why is that? Serato works good with the numark cdn 88 the only thing is you can't scratch which i can understand also i go to alot of clubs and i see nobody using virtual dj or numark cue instead everyone is using serato final scratch. Serato is everywhere and thats what all the professional dj's are using its flooding the market from reggae, soca, r&b, hiphop, & latin parties serato is dominating on the big stage!!!! Tell me your opinon on this topic please.

Please don't start this again, it will start another VirtualDJ versus Serato thread.

There are many post that start good then end up in a slagging match.

Just chill jimmy they should put a sign that says no serato if they don't want it to be compared!!

vdj does work with rackmount player..agreed it might not work on the cdn 88 but it sure works with the DMC2 and dac 2 and dac 3..vdj cant support everything...and as for "seeing serato everywhere in clubs and etc"...please go here.. http://www.virtualdj.com/djs/ and look at the djs who uses vdj/cue...trust me .serato is in my opinion the IPOD of the dj softwares......y do almost all the people own an ipod..because they were one of the first ones to get into the portable MP3 game..and the rest is just mouth to mouth advertising..one person likes it and BAM..words spread..same for serato.....that doesnt mean that vdj is less than serato...NONE at all...jus give it time!

just my 2 cents

Yeah but it's true, they always do. Anyway I've any used serato once, and I got to say IMO it's for the Turnbalist, yes the timecode has got a edge on VirtualDJ, But for me I'm happy with the Timecode that VirtualDJ has, I'm no scratch DJ, I just play House music so it's all fine and good.

The thing I don't like about Serato, others say it's it's good point, but everything, that I've seen anyway, is lock to it. That's why I prefer VirtualDJ it can be change and adapted to fit you needs.

Sod everyone else, don't worry what the next man is doing, if you want to use VirtualDJ use it, if you don't use Serato.

Thats what i'm looking for good and positive responses thanks for your input guys as of now i'm sticking with Numark Cue cause i know all the ins and outs and i'm use to tearing the place up with it!!!

yep.. as for me im used to change....some people like it because of the SIMPLICITY and plug and play factor if serato...to some people..thats all that they need...but they might not be as good mixers....jus use the software/hardware to just mix regularly ...whereas vdj enables me to go further ahead into key mixing and stuff....and i love challenges.....who can guarantee when its just plug and play that it is the best configuration...i can tell u that my setup ..after all the tweakin of my pc and settings ..that it is the best and will work at its optimal level.....and any problem that arises...ill know how to fix it..compare that to someone who just plugs and plays and then runs into trouble and is clueless on how to fix it...

my 2 cents

What area of the world are you from then? (I guess the U.S), I assure you Serato is not dominating in Europe, over here it's very much a mixed bag of software from my experience, I've seen DJ's using VDJ, Mixmeister, Mini Scratch and only one using SSL.

Serato dominates the US as most commonly used club DJ product.

It is solid and works out of the box.

For me it depends on what I am doing.

If I was just spinning audio... I would use Serato.

But for video... I use VDJ for several reasons.
Stability, quality, compatibility with VOB files, not locked into ONE mixer, Midi, etc.

Serato is still testing out the video side of their product and it will take a while for them to come close to VDJ in that department.

For audio, serato rocks... every club that plays hip hop music in new york, they all have a setup for the serato. 2 technics 1200s mixer and 2 pioneer CDjs. you can from either timecode cds or vinyl time codes. Just plug your laptop and your good to go. All equipment and interface is already setup for you.

Yea thats how it is in florida to i have yet to see anybody in any club using cue-vdj i guess i will have to be the first to bring it out on the big stage!!

Guys.. yeah i agree Serato rocks... did i just say that....it does..
Virtual Dj on the other hand Rocks more

Audio - serato is the best and stops there (not much more to offer) - apart from some crazy spending
Audio/Video/Karaoke - VDJ is near best and its possibilities are infinite - and adaptable to countless situations and setups (and countless upgrades) - for free

Serato is a simple program... that works well... SIMPLE program that appears stable -
VDJ is a simple to use yet complexed program that works well....with the proper tweaking and continues to improve on a regular basis

If I had to make a choice... and i did... then Virtual Dj just simply makes more sense - Having Serato does not hurt either, if i could afford it

Any one ever saw a Serato user just silenty wishing ...damn... if only i could do that with Serato?

Serato now can be compared to VDJ 2.1 then
VDJ has certainly come a far way since *smile*

that sums it all !!!!!!!!!!! and now vdj supports serato vinyls..HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u tell me man.....dev team busted their a$$e$ for that,..lol

Everyone i know in the uk either uses vdj or pcdj

So now you risk losing your own vinyl sales making another companies vinyls work with your program.

I think what they are aiming for, is converting serato users(& other tcv companies) - which is a very good strategy - genius imo. The ssl sound card and the ssl vinyls work with vdj - so if the ssl users want to switch to vdj, there is nothing extra to buy, the except vdj software.

It actually offers an upgrade path for people already using SSL. I don't think it will hurt the sales of the TCV too much.

Serato vinyls cost about the same as VirtualDJ one's where I live in the world. So buy Serato vinyls has no real advantages.

Look at it this way, if an SSL user wants to try VDJ, all they have to do is download the free demo, they already have all the gear to go, that's a very convenient test situation, if they are impressed all they've got to do is buy VDJ, and may even want to tailor their hardware to it.

It's a win or win situation.

I've been hearing so many good things about how fantastic Serato sounds so my question is this:

What makes Serato sound better than VDJ?
