i have no clue why this is happening but i just upgraded to a sony vaio laptop, intel core 2 dou at 2.10ghz, 3 gb ram, vista 32 bit, and installed a fresh new copy of vdj 5.1 When i start it up vdj won't read my external drive!
I tied going to settings, browser, database config and my external hard drive doesnt show up in there either! when i go in vdj's browser it shows up there but its not reading the vdj database and none of the mp3 or video info show up!!!!
I uninstalled it and started from vdj 4.3 and then installed the vdj 5.0 upgrade and got the same thing! i installed every vdj 5 update and same thing!
the tru test was to plug the external hard drive into my home computer that has xp sp3 on it. i install a new copy of vdj 5.1 and plug in the external hard drive and it shows up in seconds!!! all my tags and video info was all there!
is there something i have to do to vista to get vdj to read my external drive? vista premium home reads it fine but vdj acts like its not there.
also i can't get the video to record in vista! i can get it to work in xp but i did the same thing on vista to get it to work and i get the same codec not found error. i have the mpeg4.dll file but i dont know where to put it!

Need to turn off the UAC feature of Vista. Also, go to the root of your External Drive and change the permissions for the VirtualDJ Database XML file so that Everyone has Full Control of the file.

you download the last version of DJCel's "Registry Tool" which includes a codec selector

i've already downloaded that and have no clue how to use it................... can some one explain what im suppose to do with the registry tool?

Once you open up the registry tool there are several boxes. Tick which box you want too select (Example: EQ in headphones) and click apply.

ok did this and it worked! thanks guys. now it says waiting to start......... i am playing 2 videos and i clicked start recording and its still saying waiting to start?!?!?! what else do i have to do to get it to start recording? what else can this registry tool do?

ok i have to have the hardware acceleration on for it to record video!!! i love this program! you guys are about to have a ton of videos uploading on this forum btw!!! lol
