Tópico: p6860-FX and Hercules RMX....help?

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I bought the Gateway p6860-FX last week, and my Hercules RMX arrived yesterday. Prior to yesterday I had the trial version running on my laptop very smoothly in full video mode. Hooked up the RMX and it seems to be communicating fine with the laptop, but now the program is producing some audio stutters. Does anyone out there have these two products? If so, and you have them running smoothly, can you help me out with some guidance? Big thanks to kapitalkev and all others for your help with this!

First I would download DPC latency checker. Google it and you will find it. I was having audio issues and found out the video card driver was causing the problem. The website will have a little info on what the device is and how to use it. Read it its only a few paragraphs and will give you a better understanding of what your looking for. When you run the DPC Checker first just let it run with nothing else running and see what type of results you get. Then open up virtualdj and run videos and everything like normal and see if you get any jumps in the red area.

Ok, ran dpc latency checker, and I definitely have some issues. However, following the instructions given on the dpc latency checker page, I disabled all the things it suggested one at a time, and was still getting some red bars. I tried disabling all the things it suggested at the same time, and continued to get red bars. Any suggestions?

ok this is the same problem i was having I could not make the red bars go away. i have a list of all the devices i dissabled at home which i will get for you this afternoon. i ended up having to go the extreme route and install windows xp on my system and with everything running mine never goes over 600 and stays in the green. you could do a dual boot that way you have both operating systems. i dont know enough about all that so i didnt go that route. we will figure it out though.

let me ask you this.... does the sound work ok sometimes and just every now and then you get drop outs or distorted audio or does it sound bad all the time?

The sound seems to be working ok for the most part, I'm just getting dropouts every so often, and without any consistency. It will go a while without any, then I'll get a couple, then it'll be cool again, then I'll get some more, sometimes the dropouts continue longer than others, sometimes they're gone after a few seconds.

this was the same problems i was getting with the gateway p6860-fx!!! i use the dpc latency checker and disabled everything and still couldn't get it to stay out of the red!

i put the latency check on my thumb drive, took the gateway back to bestbuy, ran the dpc latency checker on every laptop they had for 2 hours(lol), when to the other side of the store and played rock band on the wii with some lil kid, and check them all. The acer extensa 4420 ran a max latency of 92 and the current latency was running around 9 !!!!!! it has a low end amd processor and a low end ati video card and cost 500 bucks. thats less then half of the gateway!!! needless to say, i bought it and never looked back since! now i can do a/v and midi controls with no problems.

i suggest you try what i did to find a laptop with the lowest max latency when running the dpc checker.

is there a way to avoid best buy's damn 15% 'restocking' fee? My gateway has (since this afternoon) decided to completely stop booting up. I'm actually on the phone with their customer support now, hoping to get this thing running. Needless to say I'm not pleased.

how did you pay for the laptop? if with a credit card i would tell best buy you will not pay the restocking fee that the computer isnt booting up. if that doesnt work contact your credit card company and dispute the charges and they will have it removed. i actually purchased the gateway version that they sell online at first and never could get it working and sent it back before i purchased the best buy version. I put the DPC latency tester on a thumb drive and tested the gateway at best buy and it had good results the reason i purchased it. I cant tell you why but you can have the same exact laptops and one work for one person and the other not work for the other its crazy. if your having problems like it not booting up already you need to take it back for a refund.

I did a re-install of the OS, we'll see how it runs over the next few days. Also, my fiance has a laptop with XP and she still has her discs, so if I need to remove vista and install xp hopefully I can do that. Ok, I actually just checked on it, and it's completely refreshed.....I'm now have essentially the exact same thing I came home with a week ago, with all the bloatware and everything....I'm ready to start removing stuff and re-installing vdj.. got any particular tips for me? what to remove, what to keep, etc..

ran vdj for about 30 minutes last night with vista and everything seemed to improve the longer I played on it. The audio dropouts became fewer and fewer, almost disappearing completely, and the video seemed to run fine. Any clue why this would happen, or was it just a happy accident that's not likely to happen again?

hey kapitalkev what all did you remove/disable from vista?
