Yikes, it should not be hitting 70 C idle. 70 C is the upper threshold for what these Intel chips are designed to cope with (the mobile versions are reported by Intel to max out at 100 C so you've got some headroom I suppose). Have you ever overvolted the chip or anything? I'm currently 44 C idling, but the fan is pretty much off, and I would not expect it to even reach 60 C under load.
I have noticed though, a lot of Windows software depending on the sensors reports the temperature 10 C higher than the BIOS does.

It's possible that it's a build up of dust, as I use this computer everyday in a number of locations.
How can I see the temperature reported by the BIOS?

I think the bios temperature showing different is probably a fault in some of the older firmwares I used on a few machines. A lot of laptops bioses are limited anyway and you won't get any readings. Hopefully your bluescreen problem does turn out to be heat related and the cleaning of the fans sort it out, good luck.

I haven't had a blue screen since I wrote the first post, but I have had two or three instances of the screen just going black.
Everything would seem normal, in terms of the computers activity but the screen totally black, ctrl-alt-delete does not help either, there is no way of recovering from it.
It happend today when I tried to open a small video file in WMP.
Anyone know anything about this?

This version is very old (28 July 2008). You should register your version and update it to the latest one. There are many bugfixes since 2008 **LOL**
