O.K. The Hercules RMX did not work out for me so I am looking to upgrade my soundcard.
I am using the Maya44 usb. Have had it and used it for a little over 3 years with no problems or failures. The issue is the output level. IT'S LOW.
I want GOOD LOUD CLEAR sound so I am looking for a new soundcard.
My question for all of you is... What soundcard REALLY rocks. 4 in's 4 outs is needed for timecode. As I said...the Herc RMX just did not work out for me.
Oh... I'm NOT RICH so a $1000(US) card is out the question.
I don't mind paying for something quality but let's not go jumping off deep cliffs.
Thanks in advance.

I've been using connectiv for about a year with CDJ's, trust me is LOUD AND CLEAR.
The best part is you can get one for about $250

I use the gigaport and experience the same low output. but here is some food for thought...
I'll play a particular song, say "sexyback", on winamp using my headphone output compared to sexyback played on virtual dj using the same headphone output. the output volume is max on winamp and the same for VDJ (without hitting distortion). Virtual DJ is 70% lower in volume than Winamp. Further, my cd's played through a basic denon dual deck is louder than VDJ which makes mixing between VDJ and CDs makes it very inconsistent.
What I'm curious about is if the connectiv makes VDJ sound comparable to the output level of Winamp or CDs. it would be nice to have that solid, ballsy, punch that I'm used to.

Well i use the DJM-600 mixer and with connectiv i have to lower the signal output going to my amp.
So to answer your question, yes it's solid, ballsy, punchy etc.

So is it VirtualDJ, Winamp or the Maya44 that was the low output?

I like the M-Audio Conectiv

I gotta be honest audio000....it looks like Virtuaal DJ is the culprit. Winamp compared to VDJ using the same audio output will always end up with VDJ sounding a but quieter than Winamp.
I'll check out the Connectiv and see what type of performace it gives.
It was mentioned that you had to actually turn DOWN the output to an amp because the connectiv was too loud. was this a personal preference or was the signal disstorting?

I turn down the signal from my pioneer mixer, Not my amp.
Again the signal out of connectiv is Loud and Clear.
Also latency is awesome @128ms.

So let me get this straight...
M-Audio Conectiv soundcard is both louder and clearer than the Maya44 USB.
Is that correct?

I also cannot compare Conectiv with maya44 as i havent used maya44. all i can say is the conectiv was one of the best purchases i have made - besides buying VirtualDJ!

The Connective is a better soundcard anytime over the maya 44 usb. The connective also has a ground connection for your turntables. You dont need a 4 channel mixer for the thru if you plan on playing regular cds too. All you you do is just turn the knob counter clockwise on the audio interface. This feature is for incase you need to play a cd.
Ive used the Maya 44 usb and it is very sensetive with ground (lots Of humming ) The M Audio's sound is nice and it has a feature that no other soundcard has. The feature is the knobs. Less RCA cables to hook up... Ive used both and my choice is the M audio anytime. Better sound quality
Whats Up DJ PR1...... Que Lo Que pasa aqui Ah.......

That's what I mean...aything played thriugh Virtual DJ is lower than regular CDs or Winamp.
Djpr1: when you play VDJ through your Connectiv, is the output level loder or softer than that of regular cds through a cd player?

Thats Why Mp3s have to be normalized. Some songs are low & others are Higher. This has nothing to do with the interface. You raise the gain on each song that needs it from virtual dj

Caliente: If you reread the entire topic you will find that what I am about to say is repeating what I have already clearly explained. Based on other user's responses I feel that I have conveyed my query in a clear manner. If there is any confusion, I hope to clear it up with this post.
I fully understand the concept of gain control and gain stages. what I am referring to is playing a song in VDJ at the highest possible gain the program can put out (without distorting the signal) vs. the SAME track in Winamp or a rack mounted dual CD deck using standard CDs. Keep in mind that I am in no way suggesting or insinuating that Winamp is a comparable program or one that should be used as a DJ's interface for playing their music.

The output level is the same as cd's (just did a test) of course like Caliente said, that's if your Mp3's are good and normalized.
Caliente, que la que hay bro'?????
