I love my hercules RMX, but am more than a little frustrated by the fact that in spite of what they claim on their on-line product spec sheet, there are no "Rack Ears" available for the Hercules RMX & no firm date when production will start.
If you own/use the Hercules RMX, please just check in on this thread and share your thoughts.
If you'd like to see them get some "Rack Ears" into production & readily available soon, please contact them and let your voice be heard (after all, we're only the consumers who shelled out some $350.00 +) Just click on this url & fill out their on-line contact e-mail: http://www.hercules.com/us/contact-us/ (you may have to copy & paste it into your browser's address bar).
THANX! -Z-

My mate and me were going to produce these many months ago, as well as someone else here on the forums but as there were no firm orders forthcoming it was put on the back burner, actually there is not that much of a demand for these as is evident with Hercules not even having them produced.
They are simple enough to make, but if you want someone else to make them why not try a local blacksmiths/ironshop or fabricators.
Out of curiosity what would you or anyone else think would be a fair price for these if Hercules produced them or we were to revive this project. And don't forget there would be addittional shipping costs involved if living outside the UK.

Check in....is there a door prize or something free we get?
Steve Sharp (Hercules rep) came up with a simple solution.
2" light grade aluminum angle available at the local metal shop works great for this.
The RMX is 15" wide, add the 2 pieces of 2" angle on each side and chazam, ears and a 19" rack mount.
Not only that but they match the brushed aluminum front of the RMX.

Who mate was this then Paul ;)
If I could get a order for, say 15 pairs. I could get something priced up at work ( I work in the Laser cutting firm, where we cut various steels and aluminum). I could get them cut, bent, brushed (grained) and sent out.
But it would all depend on the numbers first, as I would have to buy the material first.

Actually I have a mk1 version of these "ears" sat in my locker at work. As I don't use a rack, I can't really test them out.

I think $29.95 would be a fair price. That's at least double compared to what other rack ears I've seen for other mixers such as Mackie.

I could buy some stainless c channel and make rack ears myself so if enough people are callin for em, I will start producin.
Mensajes Fri 21 Nov 08 @ 1:21 pm
macgyver it. looks like there are three screws on each side that can be used to mount the ears to the side of the rmx. will probably destroy any warranty. im sure some strong glue or adhesive would work as the rmx doesnt get that hot, unless you want to spot weld it or use a saudering iron.
Mensajes Fri 21 Nov 08 @ 1:55 pm
I dont think mounting them would void the warranty because like the original post said, I too saw on Hercules webpage that the screws are intended specifically for rack mounting the controller.

They are threaded holes to take, I believe M4 screws, 2 on both sides.
Mensajes Sat 22 Nov 08 @ 1:06 pm
yeah. there are two 'empty' screw holes and there are three screw holes that actually keep the cover on the rmx. i was wondering what the two empty ones were for. i was going to stick a screw in there as i saw it was threaded but didnt want to risk it. if you use the three that are there--warranty issues. using the intended holes or the other ones will probably all work to keep the bulletproof rmx in place.
but why not just fasten a laptop stand around your neck, similar to what harmonica users use for hands free playing? and a really long usb cable.
