ok short and sweet. been using cue for about 6 months and unless i just noticed it tonight, which i doubt, i heard tiny clicks while playing videos, songs etc. i use cue 5.2 in the clubs with a korg zero 4 mixer a dedicated dual core 4 gig laptop. i haven't changed any hardware, updates etc on the laptop. i tried adjusting some of the settings tonight while playing to see if i could get it to go away, it didn't. any ideas?

Are you using ASIO mode?
If so, maybe ASIO Buffer needs increasing (or decreasing I never know what way, lol) a tad.
Mensajes Sat 01 Aug 09 @ 10:02 am
yes i am using the asio for the korg. only problem with that is if you change it while playing it messes up then you have to restart cue i believe. i couldn't do that at the club once i started playing. does anyone know which way it has to be adjusted?

By All tweaks done, what do you mean? Untick safe mode, set latency to fastest, ect. ect?
Mensajes Sat 01 Aug 09 @ 10:16 am
that too. i mean my system is tweaked. as in runnign 24 processes and never seeing the virus net or any extra programs that don't get used while dj. also yes i tired safe on safe off, latency for best, and auto etc. i tried changing ever setting having to do with sound output. ran it internal etc. cables from oxer to rack is new i just put them in myself when i got my zero 4.

Well do it before you start. Try changing it while you are doing your sound checks. That's if you can do a sound check before you start. I always do!

well this place i can but i didn't notice the clicking until i turned on the house system. like the small speakers throughout the club, bathrooms, halls, stairs, patio etc. theres one of the speakers right above me i turned it on about 20 minutes into the night. i guess next week i'll be there early. i will set up the korg tomorrow and see if i can reproduce the problem in my studio. but more suggestions are always great.

ok i set it up in the studio and still getting the clicks. i tried adjusting the asio buffer up and down. no matter what i did it didn't seem to change the tiny clicks. any ideas?

Try it in WDM mode.
Mensajes Sun 02 Aug 09 @ 10:21 pm
excuse the ignorance but what is WDM mode?
Mensajes Sun 02 Aug 09 @ 10:26 pm
The RMX can be used in 2 different modes WDM or ASIO mode.
I wrote this in another thread, it will sort of explain the difference. Also there is a link to a small guide that I did that puts the RMX to WDM mode

When you use WDM mode you are using the standard Windows drivers (I believe). These Drivers tend to have a higher latency than ASIO drivers.
ASIO drivers have very low latency, that's why you need them for timecodes, but they also can be used without timecodes. But it can be a bit tricky to set up and get rid of the pops in the sound (whilst using this mode). These pops often mean that the ASIO buffer sample rate is too low, and it needs to be increased. Some say ASIO mode sounds better, but I beg to differ on that.
Now, I run my RMX in WDM mode, always have and I don't get any sound problems. If you want to try WDM mode then follow this guide I did. It was for V5 but it will work for V6 too
The problem you had with the ASIO error was probably that you had VirtualDJ set for WDM and the Hercules Control panel set for ASIO (or something along those lines). That's why the controller wouldn't operate.
I hope I've explained it OK.

20 somethin processes in Vista????? Well that could be the issue. A lot of other processes rely on other processes. This is why I highly advise leaving a fresh Vista install alone when it comes to what is runnin in the background.
Mensajes Mon 03 Aug 09 @ 12:15 am
you do not need all the bs processes running that they have setup. a basic home install of vista has 36+ processes running. for what? i'm not using networking, i'm not using remote access, lan, virus protection, superfectch or any of that shit. so why have it running? i google EVERYTHING before i disable it. its not a "processes" issue.

Might be worth runnin a defrag on your drives. If you have added allot of music over time it could be taking a little longer for the drive to respond.
I was also wondering if you only hear it in the club. is everything ok with your setup when you use it at home?

yes i hear it both at the club and at home. i set up the mixer using headphones and i can could hear the small clicks during playback. happens with video and mp3. as for defrag the internal drive that i was running off of to test is less than half full and only stores backup music files and a few videos. i heard it with both external hd at club and internal at home.
