...a lot of new users asking questions. With that in mind I thought perhaps it was time for a refresher course in what is accepted, and what is expected, from all users be they VIP, Pro, LE or Non Licensed User.
No 1) TREAT EVERY USER WITH RESPECT There is virtually no gray area in this one kids. I recommend a simple rule of thumb. "If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all." Or, from the Judeo-Christian line of reasoning "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." This is especially true of Non-Licensed Users. (hence forth referred to as NLUs) ATOMIX/Virtual DJ views these forums as a sales tool. They will not make many sales if their current customer base is treating potential customers like crap. REMEMBER EVERY NLU IS A POTENTIAL PRO VERSION BUYER
(the same is true for LE users) and needs to be treated as such.
No. 2) These forums are for all to learn. But, they are not ours to do with as we please. The Team, and moderators to a much lesser extent, will decide on what is best. While the Team values input, after ten years they have read almost every conceivable argument imaginable regarding NLUs and piracy. When in doubt, refer to No. 1.
No. 3) In regards to being aggravated with an NLU who you think is pirating, or taking advantage of ATOMIX/Virtual DJ. The developer, and owner, of the software company ATOMIX has an established guideline when it comes to piracy. You don't have to like it, but you do have to respect his wishes (even if you disagree or don't understand them). When in doubt, see No. 2 and No. 1.
No. 4) After all that if you are still in doubt, send a PM to a Teamer or a moderator. We are here to facilitate learning, and keeping these forums easy to use (this includes keeping the search engine from being bogged down with 35 threads on the same topic). So, please use the search feature BEFORE STARTING A NEW THREAD. The odds are someone has asked a similar question in the past, not to mention finding your answers for yourself is not only gratifying, it is empowering.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. And, thank you in advance for your co-operation.

I'm starting to think it would improve the situation greatly if we had separate forums; one for NLU's (licence owners could also post there, naturally) and one for licence-owners.
That way all the usual pre-purchase questions would be easier to find for newbies. In addition, licence owner's forum would not be filled with periodically repeating newbie-questions.

I just upped you to the next level you should see what you are asking for now.

I made a similar suggestion and I was informed that they have no intentions of making any changes to the forums at this time.

And the "SEARCH" feature well let's just its not very good at all.............Half the time the only way I can find an old post is to google it. Maybe if that was fixed or updated or something we wouldn't be seeing the same questions over and over and over and over, get where im going with this. The one thing I don't get is when someone does use the search and brings up an old post y'all lock right away and usually tell them to start a new thread, can't have it both ways. You want them to use the search but lock it when they bring it up, makes no sense to me.
I don't know take what you want from it, it is what it is

My guess is most of the experienced users, myself included, get headaches after reading something like this:
HELP ME TOO GET MY DJ STUFF WORK I DNT HERR NUTHIN FRUM MY HEADFONES HELP ME ASAP
I think if NLU's had a better handle of the English language and knew how to work the spell check feature it would be easier to help them. I also have to agree on the search functionality, or lack there of...

Why are the rest of us not being upped to the next level and being forced to put up with the same BS? This is the question.

Aural has been around, and contributing in a positive manner, these forums for a long time. Its not about total posts, or asking for promotion. It's about positive contributions over a period of time.....
Mensajes Tue 01 Mar 11 @ 8:59 pm
That's fantastic and great for the forum, but I urge you to look at my continuing positive contribution.
Mensajes Tue 01 Mar 11 @ 9:04 pm
Yeah, that response will get you the right kind of attention....

Wow Tear Em Up, that a fairly negative and unnecessary comment considering that this thread is about keeping posts relevant and positive and was created by you.

Couldn't agree with you more. Personally, my motivation to help drops rapidly if it requires me additional effort to decrypt what the person is trying to say. This is coming from someone who is not a native English speaker, I can only wonder how you natives see this.
Sometimes I wonder if a "Forum posting for dummies" guide would be a usefull sticky-topic, since it's kinda sad how a lot of people are oblivious to the fact how things like spelling and descriptive thread titles affect their chances of getting a response. A lot of NLU's might see this as us being bunch of uptights, but ultimately it's all about "help us to help you".

Same reason I will never get bumped up, even though I've been a contributing member for a long time now. Don't worry 'ACE' us Canucks don't care about that sort of crap or having to kiss anyone's butt to get extra stars, right? lol
Mensajes Wed 02 Mar 11 @ 2:34 am
I personally don't think that assumption is correct. In my experience you are promoted for being helpful and positively contributing to the forum. Being critical is not an issue as members comments can lead to positive improvements being made. Being defamatory towards VDJ or Atomix is not the way to gain stars though.
At the end of the day it is the teamers who decide who is promoted based on their contributions and help to forum visitors.

I think personally a new user section would be a valuable tool and would possibly increase the traffic aswell as a number of new purchasers and maybe dedicate a Moderator for the New User Forums.
Also Help only if you want to help some people have the gift others dont its that simple......
My 2 Cents

I'd like to point out that the forum moderators are not the people who decide who gets stars, promotions, custom titles and so on - that is solely down to the people at Atomix.
We moderators are simply volunteers chosen by Atomix to help keep the forum in order - free of spam, multiple posting, off-topic posts, piracy, abuse and that kind of thing.
As has been stated in another post, they have no plans at present to change the the forum.
