Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Faster than expected I got my VCI-400 in out of Germany!

Just some first impressions..

- Solid, heavy and super build quality, faders edges are slightly sharp, but no bloodbath expected

- VDJ 7.05b didnt recognize it out of the box, I needed to install the shipped LE version with it.. I do hope that I can overwrite that in 20 days again with the regular pro download. Someone from support?

- It feels and responds AMAZING the transport buttons are fast, sensitive and nice and bouncy while the loop buttons click nicely and the jogwheels feel super good and can be made just as responsive and tight as you like

- GREAT default mapping job, I thought I would have needed to remap allot, but its perfect. VDJ responds great to deck changes, shifts to the sampling and effects section etc etc.

- GREAT fast ASIO drivers and sound quality

- Decks are side-less with one push on the button you choose either left, right or always on

- All buttons are lit and change color on function or deck choice, hell the thing is a true christmas tree :P

Well... lets play :P

And I want my controller icon here :P

Thanks for posting, I think I'm going to get one of those in January, great to hear a positive review!

Let us know how you get on with it :D

that looks really nice! I can't wait to try one out myself.

Please download and then re-install Pro v7.0.5b again.

New controllers such as the VCI-400, Pioneer DJ-Ergo, etc. were added after the initial release of v7.0.5b

Thanks support, I guess there are multiple releases of the same version :S

Ironic detail:

It comes with a nice working CD of VDJ LE and..... a paper card redirecting to the website of Serato for Dj intro that.. well.. doesn't support the VCI-400 yet.. Guess someone didn't make their deadline.

Hehe! Major oops. And they have to PAY Serato?!

Well the product is marketed as 'shipped with VDJ and Serato DJ Intro' so the users don't pay for it, but I guess there might be some sore faces at Vestax or Serato. Either Vestax pushed the release forward or Serato was late. We'll never know :P

Soooo more observations after playing this weekend..

I only changed some minor things in the mappings, cause they are pretty well done

- Holding play/pause makes the track stop and reset to start position, I missed that
- Holding load will unload, I missed that too, I like clean decks

Playing with it is very natural and with the color changing buttons its very easy to get used to switching decks.

Besides that I've noticed that the drivers require more than the drivers of my RMX :S On low latency (2,4,8ms), besides crackling, it seems that VDJ is loosing track of timing and you'll get very little, but still noticeable wobbling of tempo. Tracks seem to loose their flow.

For playing without crackling I need to use 16ms of latency, I had 10-15s on my RMX. But also I needed to push performance of my laptop even harder by disabling more services and drivers to get to that point. I tried two laptops, one fully clean fresh install, but even on that one I cant get any less than 8 to 16.

Another very weird thing that i think I notice is that the RMX was much more forgiving when blending two bassdrums in a track. With these drivers they blend less instead neutralize a little..

Nevertheless, looking at it very picky now of course, in general its a super controller!

Well it sounds like the rmx handles better to me.

The VCI does sound more full than the RMX, but performance wise the RMX drivers are better than the VCI's, than again, those are brand new.

I decided to use my rmx over my newer more expensive device because of driver issues, rmx works well with vdj!

I must say hercules did a great job on the RMX for the price you pay! But for me it just ran out of buttons.

But despite the small ASIO woes I'm still very happy with the VCI. The driver and the device itself are both brand new so basically it can only get better. Also I might have been over focussed on the sound and latency to the extend that you start seeing ghosts everywhere.

I actually did a nice little mix yesterday that was very satisfying, getting used to the slightly different response in faders and eq's. And if I wouldn't have forgotten to press start record I could have shared it :P

Ok...

After a little operation concerning a certain fan and a vacuum cleaner.. i'm at a steady 8 and satisfied :D

There were a couple of last minute firmware changes prior to launch of the VCI-400 that didn't make it into the last update of VirtualDJ Pro.

One of these is the request to send the fader positions.

The other is the 4 buttons in the middle video section.

Did you bought it from Thomann 769 euro?

Musicstore.de for 777 EUR

Update:

After some trail and error and Vestax support the easiest solution to get great quality at 4 to 8 ms latency is:

- Set the VDJ process in realtime priority
- Use advanced stretching in performance, mastertempo

With this I don't even need to disable any drivers, services etc etc. It works like a charm and the controller truly rocks.
