The bottom line is, it does not affect my bottom line. Seems to be a lot of activity about a press release, that means nothing to any of us. Companies make stuff, if you can use it fine, if not wait till the next show, and somebody else will make something for you. My loyalty is also very fickle. I go with the one that works best for me, and if something new comes out that works better, I will get that. I also use the "What have you done for me lately" litmus test. At the moment, VDJ is always doing something for me. Ask yourself what have these other software companies done for their loyal customers. I am still waiting for updates from one of these companies. So, I would not get too wrapped up in the dealing between companies, they are doing what's best for them. Numark wants to sell more controllers than any other company, what's wrong with that?

Oh, and even though a lot of cute stuff is coming out from eveybody and their mothers, I can shift through them very quickly. Any controller that does not have a video fader does not get a second look. If it is not rack mountable, I move on. If it has a mixer incorporated, bye bye. This way, I only have to look at the stuff that will work for me.

well if numark and vdj do decide to part company how will this affect those of us that are cue users. will us cue users start getting the conterfit pop up like the other guys did with the home edtion from empire, or just totaly split the the support from vdj??

wait.so total control is now gonna come with ssl ?

Come on, where did you see that at? Do a little reading.

Hold on dude. So far all that's happened is Numark has ditched Traktor On ONE controller.

Lets not go crazy - yet.

It's not as if many will buy this new Numark product anyway, I predict very little sales (see if I'm right).

I agree with AMaHM. I am going to buy what fits my needs regardless, but I will never buy Numark anyway. Every cd player I had with problems, headphones that blow out after 2 months. I just dont like them, I am not a controller person anyway. That is why I want the new Denon 5500, I dont want total dependance on the computer, call me old fashioned.

lol... its not about that at ALL, but about Numark wanting to sell to a large market.. totally understandable...

Numark Total Control came with VDJ/CUE and Traktor.
And the new ones comes with VDJ/CUE and Serato.

To clarify though, it doesn't come with Serato Scratch Live... it comes with Serato Live Itch. =P

So with a little reading, you were able to get clarification like most of us. There's hope for him after all. Regardless, I still don't see the need to start slitting our wrist about any of this info. How does a press release about any new stuff, negatively affect any of us? Why the doom and gloom?

Good question,

Personally, I'd be more concerned with the kind of controllers that these hardware manufactures are littering the market with.

Home DJ's will always go for cheap, viable options.

Club installation will always go for what their DJ's want (High quality, simple, reliable etc), Which is presently the Pioneer CDJ-1000 and tomorrow it will be the 1000 with a USB connection (call it what you like). The Club DJ will nearly always buy what is installed at the clubs.

Mobile DJ's have traditionally gone for rack mount gear, although there are less restrictions here, it's more about what the particular DJ prefers. So any of these new products that appeal to the mobile DJ are a viable option, although mobile DJ's tend to spend more conservatively from my experience.

An idiot with money would have to be the perfect customer.

Hey, I understand the excitement, I'm a DJ that likes new toys. But I also realize that these guys are in the business of making money. I will not be running out buying a new piece of equipment every time something comes out. One reason is, they are already working on releasing the next new thing, in a few months. It will never stop. I also know that I can not use them all, so no matter how pretty something looks, if I can't use it, it's a waste. There is something out there for everybody, which may or may not be a good thing for us. It's a good thing for the companies, some of them anyway.

I agree. Besides, it looks like the manufacturers are just trying to cover as many bases as they can, market-wise.

I would too.

If the manufactures were smart - they would release a unit with a DLL for compatability with the most popular softwares.

VDJ
Serato
Deckadance
PCDJ

Hit them all.

And make them work out of the box - they're writing the software for these units - why not write it so it's plug and play with those four?

Yup, that would be a great thing for them to focus on at this point, given the overwhelming popularity nowadays.

I think it's time to sit back, let the chaos ensue, bide your time and let the dust settle.

Some really decent controllers may emerge in the aftermath.

Basically our options are being rapidly increased, which is a good thing for everyone!

If these controllers aren't you thing, then that's fine, but there is absolutely no harm in having the option !!

One thing is for sure, Software DJing has been put on the map, this influx of higher quality controllers is a testament to that.

Let it continue...... :)
