maybe i don't have the sound issues cause i updated my firmware before playing out and i used a 1/4" mic cable rather an xlr but i used mine for the first time last night at a high school formal and it worked and performed great for the most part. i'm gonna run it tonight at the lounge and see how it holds up. i'll have more feedback tomorrow am.

Let me put it this way... If i wanted to buy a 4 deck controller right now, i would buy VMS4 once again ! Low level output is not an issue when your PA system is strong. And certainely it worths every cent !
I would even vote for Best value for money Product for this year.

It was a close one, i was beginning to worry the word would get out that the unit sucked and nobody would want it.

No they dont support controlers. You have to upgrade to Pro using your discount as a VMS4 LE user.

Thing was I owned a Q-SD mixer which was the nuts. Had it flightcased with my RMX which I used in external mixer mode. I thought the VMS4 would be the same as the above just with a smaller footprint.
I knew there wa sa problem when AA admitted on their forum that the VMS4 was a controller first and mixer second and that the AA mixer developers/team were not involved with the project.
I will restate that as a controller, the VMS4 is fantastic. The controller interface is well laid out and isvery very responsive.
Cheers,
Roy

i agree, i have been using the VMS4 as a controller only with a presonus firebox and its quit nice, the wheels and pitch faders seem to be the best built things on it, the mic issue has been fixed , however i only use this as a controller and wouldnt think of using the sound card.

how do you go about getting the mic adapter?
And I totally agree it has potential... the out-of-the-box settings are limited but now I know what I want to be able to do with it so I'm going to look for a map that'll help me out or stay up tonight and square it away!

Well I have tried this on 3 different laptops now , and whenever I put a DVD in my laptop I so not get any sound while I have my VMS4 plugged in . I have updated all the Drivers installed Correctly , The VMS4 will play np in Virtual DJ for all my mp3 and mp4 files . Yes I have set the VMS4 on default audio . I even tried Playing the DVD through media player still no sound .
I hooked up my other External sound card ( Numark DJ I/O ) and bam I get audio
So for all of you that have the VMS4 can you put a DVD in your laptop and see if you get any audio while the VMS4 is plugged in
Will their be a fix for this soon ?

I have had no problems with my VMS4.
I run the mic on a weekly basis for around 1.5 hours. No distortion, it is a switchable (hi/lo impedance) radio mic.
I use it as my primary mixer and have had no output distortion from any of the outputs.
I have also compared it to a Ecluer Nuo and although slightly down on the output there was no noticable difference from one mixer to another.
I think that there has been some build quality issues that have blighted this unit luckily I got a good one.
I reccommend the VMS4 just make sure you get a good un

ok went and switched mine out for a new one while i was there they gave me a 1/4" to xlr transformer to try out. we plugged it in and no distortion then for shits and giggles i took the transformer out and tried it with just mic - xlr cable and BAMM! no distortion on the mic output. could it be the older firmware is better than the new updated one on their site? on my old unit i updated the firmware. i won't make that mistake on this one till i notice an issue.

@djsynystr, I know your a turntable guy, dam good to I might add, but I was wondering how was the transition from tables to a controller with smaller jogs? I may be way off here too, lol! I should ask, do you use it with your tables or by itself or both?? If by itself (VSM4) do you cut on those jogs or just straight mixing?
Not trying to hijack just curious as to how comfortable you are with it.....
Thanks for the time

Thanks
the first night (friday) i used it at a high school formal for about 2 hours before i left and only really cut songs in with some basic doubles you know like bringing it back 2 or 3 times to let people get to the dance floor. now saturday is my lounge gig so i usually do it all cuts, doubles, blends etc with video. it took a little getting used to the smaller platter (turntables in my studio, cdjs in clubs/private gigs) but after a while i got more used to it and it wasn't bad at all. i did notice that the fader doesn't cut in right away when on the cut setting and it was effecting the way some of my cuts sounded. theres like a 3mm space between where the fader hits and where it comes in. i ordered an Innofader overnight so i will hopefully have it before tomorrow for the club. if the fader works like it's supposed to i'm hoping it will sound spot on.
its def a change from cdj or tt to the platter on the VMS4 but for what the unit is and what i paid ($345 USD) it''s a great piece of equipment so far. the fact that you can even hook cdjs or tt's to it for TC control is a big plus. if i need to use it for a turntablist type party i can bring my 1200's or cdj's plug n play. i might be buying a 2nd one just for the price as a back up.

Yes you can... You put it in 8 out mode and then use the advance config to map the sampler to one of the other channel pairs. I did this when I used to for broadcasting on the radio.
